RABS vs. YSP

NEED HELP DECIDING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!

My daughter recently got into the RABS program at Cornell and the YSP program at UC Davis, so we were wondering if any of you have experience at either one and which one you would say she should go to? She's a junior right now and she has to know as soon as possible since the deadline for the payment for both programs is tomorrow. Also, if you have gone to RABS or YSP do you know if the research at YSP is guaranteed to be Intel/Siemens material or if RABS research is?

YSP research isn’t that great…, unless you are biology-oriented.

I don’t know anything about RABS, but I attended YSP last year and would highly recommend it. The research is actually quite intense, around 7-8 hours a day and sometimes even on weekends. The program requires you to write a 15-20 page paper on your research and present to everyone (professors, other participants, parents) on the last day so you should be very well prepared for Siemens/Intel. Most people just submit the paper they write so there’s not much extra work for participating an a science competition.

Of everyone I know from YSP, roughly 1/4 of the seniors are attending some sort of 7-8 year medical program and over 1/4 were accepted into more than one ivy league college. YSP is definitely a great program and your daughter will meet many other talented people there.
