Race

I understand this is a controversial topic, and it's probably been asked about already, but how much does your race affect your admission chances? I'm an Indian (Asian) applying to the Ivies and my parents always tell me that my ECs, Grades, achievements etc. are not good enough for an Asian. Someone recently told me that your demographic information is not viewed by the admissions officers. Is this true? Would it be worth it to leave your ethnicity question blank on the Commonapp?

Nonsense!

First of all, you should consider that your first and last name give hints. Unless you have a standard American name. It is true what you say… top schools have diversity quotas to fulfill. The shocker here is that you should try to overcome this disadvantage. Be great at what you do and be motivated. If you really want to get past the race barrier, be unique.

Don’t schools HAVE to admit a certain number of AA (African Americans)? I’m AA lol so I don’t mean this in a bad way, just curious. Bc people on here always say it’s “easier” to get into the ivies if you’re AA and I’m always confused by what they mean by that.
