Racial bias

I'm not sure if this is too OT but....

I have to write an 800 word paper for my writing class about racial bias in the SAT and I have all the objective facts and stats and stuff but I'd really like to hear some direct experience with it. I need both sides so no matter your opinion I'm interested in what you have to say. Thanks!

a 1230 from a URM is most likely to beat a 1500 from an asian/white

The grown-ups discussed this not too long ago in the Parent's Forum. I think northstarmom began the post. Look it up; it's got some good stuff.

thanks CLeighDrie!

the verbal section is racially baised against a lot of people living in urban centers

I'm not sure you can say it's biased racially.

It's biased against those from poor schooling backgrounds. Hence the horrible scores overall in the South and in my state (Arkansas).

You could make the extension and say that it's biased against minorities because they predominantly live in areas where the schooling is subpar.

yeah that was incorrect on my part, I live in New York so I normally am use to minorties being at the bottom of the opportunity ladder, but the plight of poor whites is often over looked as well
