Racist T-Shirt at AP World Grading?

@Jellybae‌ I am free to be as unreasonable as I like, thank you very much. I made my username foolish for a reason after all.

“And about my race- I’m part of the human race.” :)) :)) :)) I’m crying omggggg

Foolish u can go ahead but I’m just gonna call u out on it :wink:

I don’t find it offensive either. But if it is offensive to others, then it should have been withdrawn with an apology.

@DAIMYO‌
I’m deluded for disagreeing with your opinion because?
@Jellybae‌
There needed to be something to laugh about in this heated conversation. Agree to disagree on racism in society?

@DAIMYO‌ Every racial/ethnic group faces discrimination in this country to a certain degree, including whites. Anybody who believes that all whites are privileged is not only racist, they’re also morons.

While I find the shirt to be in poor taste, I don’t think it’s a case of teachers being racist–they’re just trying to have fun with an essay theme. I’m pretty disappointed that they promised to make changes and then didn’t–they should definitely apologize for that.

People will always find things to be offended about, and I tend to ignore them unless it’s clearly offending a lot of people. It’s not a perfect system, but there ya go.

@spencerg011 You’re clearly white

Even though you’ve never met or seen him, he’s automatically white for thinking agreeing with a multiracial person’s position on this. I didn’t know opinions differing from yours could only possibly come from a white person. As much as I want a colorblind society, people like you aren’t going to help me reach that goal but further divide whites and minorities. Not every white American is privileged and this is coming from a nonwhite American.

@DAIMYO‌

I can see we won’t get anywhere if your only response to people’s arguments is to point out their race, as if that automatically disqualifies what they have to say. There are far more poor whites in this country then any other racial group, and Asians are easily the most well-off as far as average income. Read a book and then get back to me.

Could you explain this a bit more? Why, specifically, is it racially offensive to draw caricatures of the Chinese Communist Party leaders? I note that they are depicted as partying, as opposed to some sort of racially stereotypical activity. As I said above, how would this be different if it were an identical picture of Lenin, Stalin, and Trotsky in party hats? I guess I can see how the mock script could offend somebody. And is “Chinese culture” the same thing as the iconography of the Chinese Communist Party? Because that’s really what I see being mocked here.

@spencerg011 Ok but how many more whites are there in this country than any PoC group loll. Obviously whites have the most poor people, 70% of the US is European American! Like common sense they’d have the most poor people. Only 5% of the US is Asian! Maybe the reason that they are the most well-off is cuz uhh… the only one who are able to come to the US are the ones who are well-off? Maybe if Chinese people were able to immigrate to the US from the late 1800s to the 1950s (throwback to Chinese Exclusion Act) we’d have more poor Chinese people! Jesus, look at the Fortune 500 CEO list and get back to me lmao

But you’re saying for every white American, they are born with a higher chance of succeeding due to their skin color which is completely false. That would be the case without affirmative action and segregation still existing but race isn’t nearly as big a factor in life as you say it is.

^Yeah, I know how demographics work… My point is that the struggles of the many poor white Americans shouldn’t be overlooked because of the wealth of a much smaller group of whites (as powerful as they may be). That wouldn’t make any sense, right?

And I don’t really care about how hypothetically things could be different if more Chinese were allowed to immigrate. The fact is that Asians are generally well-off in America.

Daimyo’s opinions are the most racist on here.

Why?

Racism is an equal opportunity employer: if you think or act in a racist manner, you are engaging in racism. Black, white, Latino, Asian, whatever – if you judge others or treat them differently based on color, you are a racist.

The idea that only white people can be racist is just plain wrong. In fact, that thought itself is racist.

“Racism is an equal opportunity employer” I cannot contain my laughter

@DAIMYO‌
Your logic makes me have trouble containing my laughter as well.

@realtwinkie I’m honestly shocked ur still posting, if i said “And about my race- I’m part of the human race” I would be sooo embarrassed I would not be able to login anymore. I’d make a new account honestly. You’re literally a half-Chinese person doing ur absolute best to convince everyone that a mockery of Chinese people is not racism, how can u expect anyone except conservative whites to take u seriously

You cannot logically defend your stance. I defined mine (and that of most sane people) and provided the logical basis for it, all in one nice, neat post. You are simply full of hate.

^What logic? :smiley:

I don’t know how to copy/paste on my phone. Hehe

The good news is, regardless of our racial predispositions, we can all learn to improve and “see the content of character, not the color.” That is an ongoing process for some personally and for us as a nation. I think we’re getting better.

@prezbucky “and that of most sane people” I’m laughing so hard
