Racist T-Shirt at AP World Grading?

@prezbucky‌ Apologies if it looked like I was criticizing your post, that comment was meant for a different person.

@DAIMYO‌
Can you please explain further why my opinion can’t be taken seriously? And it seems clear a majority on the thread are having trouble taking you and your anti-white racism seriously. A picture of Chinese people next to Communist China isn’t racist since it doesn’t imply any racial superiority. In the name of logic, I’ll defend any race.

With the one sided hate in every post in this thread, I’d call DAIMYO a ■■■■■, but s/he’s been on here since 2012, so I guess s/he really does have those opinions.

I think the shirts were in poor taste, but I don’t think they were racist, and I don’t think people needed to be offended. Of course, they have a right to be, but I was just saying in my earlier posts that sometimes things in poor taste are taken as racism, when in fact they aren’t.

As far as the general racism thing goes that’s being discussed, I don’t think anyone should say one minute that’s someone’s being racist for saying something, and then another minute claim the person can’t have a valid opinion on the matter because of their race. Furthermore, saying racism can only affect minorities is ridiculous. Racism’s definition says nothing about having to be a certain race, only that believing one race is superior to another or being prejudice is racism.

Oh, and it’s also ridiculous to believe that someone of one race can’t defend another race. Believing that is just encouraging division between races and ethnicities, in my opinion.

spencerg, I thought so. I was making fun of myself with the “copy/paste” thing. Hehe

Daimyo, you are apparently laughing… but you are not making any counter arguments. Your sole spiel seems to be “White man is evil.”

Sounds a whole lot like people named Hitler and Milosevich.

But like I said, people can change, and when you are ready, there’s a whole new huge group of people who would be open to being your friend, associate, etc.

I think this argument arose solely because of word choice; if the title had been offensive I don’t think we’d have this debate. It is portraying the Chinese people and their history in a less-than-flattering way but it is not truly racist, but should still be actually revised. If anything, the lack of action despite the order to do so is the most offensive part here, as the issue is being downplayed when it is still a valid issue.

“But you’re saying for every white American, they are born with a higher chance of succeeding due to their skin color which is completely false” I’m screaming did anyone in this thread besides daimyo even take us history

Daimyo’s not a ■■■■■ he/she just doesnt conform to the popular elitist beliefs many CCers tend to have

I finally looked at the T-shirt.

If they meant to rip on Communism, they could (should) have mixed it up by including folks like Castro, Mao, Marx, Lenin and Stalin. Maybe Ho Chi Minh and Che Guevara too.

Or maybe they were going for a nerdy/quirky feel…

If neither of the above was their motive and it was meant to demean Chinese and/or Asians, well, that’s deplorable.

@‌prezbucky
I understand that they should’ve made a joke on a broader number of figures in communism but it does say Chinese Communist Party. I doubt they would try to demean Asians as it would risk all of the CollegeBoard’s credibility.

@prezbucky There was a FRQ about the Chinese Communist Party, so that’s why they didn’t include other Communists.

@Jellybae‌ I would hardly call it an elitist opinion to disagree with Daimyo’s wildly racist statement that white people “have literally never experienced real racism and never will.” As I said in my first post, anyone who believes these types of statements is a racist and should have their head examined.

White people don’t experience racism that’s common sense. Go use google because Im sure as hell not explaining anything to you on CC. You should be smart enough to use the internet @spencerg011‌

I can see that there’s no point in trying to discuss racism with you if what you call “common sense” is just more blanket statements and kindergarten ignorance. Are you seriously suggesting that white people are never treated unfairly by non-whites due to their skin color? Because if you are, then I give up. @Jellybae‌

Google is your friend @spencerg011‌

@Jellybae‌
Don’t trust everything you see on the internet. It’s full of propaganda. You have to analyze the validity of the information on the internet before believing it. There are conspiracies that dinosaurs live on Mars right now but is that valid? You need to ask yourself that before using information in a legitimate debate.

Lol @realtwinkie‌ I think research papers from college professors hold more credibility than elitist high schoolers on CC

I’d love for you to PM me some of these research papers if you can. But racism can and does affect white people too. Racism isn’t a term suited towards one single race but it can happen with any race and does.

I’m not your slave. You have two hands. You have a functioning brain. If you cared to realize why you’re ridiculously wrong you’d use google @realtwinkie‌

I personally don’t see how this shirt is racist, it’s in bad taste and likely shortsighted, but not racist. That’s at least my opinion.

Now, on to this big discussion that you all are having about race. As an African-American, I actually have experienced racism in my daily life, sometimes explicitly directed at me, and sometimes directed at those that look like me. It has been done to me by those of my own race and by Whites. With that said, I want to make the following points.

1- Stop throwing around term “PC” whenever you don’t agree that something is racist. Sometimes the event actually is racist and all using the term does is blur the lines and just prove that you’re unsympathetic. With that said, there are in fact times where people are being too sensitive. A lot of the elitists on CC do in fact act lament about Affirmative Action saying that they’re the group being most discriminated against without understanding just how real racism still is in America for many minorities.

2- Racism can affect anyone and be directed at anyone. Though minorities are the most oppressed in terms of government action or public opinion (look to what happens to AA Males when they walk into stores, look to racial profiling, look to drug laws), Of course we have a weir Afirmative Action policy that blurs the lines as well when it comes to questioning if it discriminates against whites/asians. it is ludicrous to assert that Whites cannot be discriminated against. This is especially true in the inner city. All of us can be discriminated against and all of us should have each others backs when these events happen.

That’s my only opinion but I suggest everyone keep this civil.

@Jellybae‌
If you cared more, you’d refer to specific evidence that I could look into.
