Raise.me scholarship

Did anyone apply for this scholarship? If “Yes” then is it part of dean’s scholarship?

I will be. It works as a minimum amount you will earn in financial aid, but I’m not sure if that counts merit/dean. I don’t think it does, but don’t take my word KN that.

I applied too and in my award letter it mentioned the amount I received but it wasnt included in my financial calculations like my other scholarship was

Spoke to Financial office at NU and what he said that Raise.me is there commitment to at least that much scholarship so if you got Dean’s or other merit scholarship then which ever is greater amount you will get as Merit scholarship.

so you can’t stack the raise.me scholarship with Deans or other merit @CanIask

Yes. We had about 32k without senior grade courses. Even with Dean’s scholarship its still too expensive.

So you’ve been doing raise.me for years? To be honest, I only heard about this a few weeks ago. I thought it was a new program since I had never seen anything about here on CC or heard from anyone else about it. How did you get 32K in scholarships @canlask?

I found out from northeastern website too. You can do everything in one sitting. Make sure you have all your grades from 9-12 and add information. Each school gives you different amount for the same accomplishment. For example if you took honor class or AP Northeastern gives you $1000.

There are so many universities but if this is how they are doing then not sure that has any value.

Raise.me does not overlap with merit or financial aid. If you have 50k of raise.me and 50k of merit or financial aid, you don’t get 100k off.

@Jpgranier (or anyone) But would have to have been using Raise.Me for years in order to get a substantial amount for schools like NEU or can you ‘backfill’ your grades now (as a senior) for your 4 years of high school. And what is the max ** per year** Northeastern offers in Raise.Me scholarships (assuming you met every criteria)?

@suzyQ7 There is no limitation on the amount of grades you can enter per year. You could create an account and fill out freshman-senior grades any time you’d like.

Not sure about Northeastern max, but I have felt Raise.me to be somewhat of a gimmick. I suppose if you don’t qualify for any financial aid and think you won’t get any scholarships it’s a good idea.

I filled out a lot so I could get a scholarship for SMU then I found out I’d get at least 15k a year scholarship and I couldn’t come anywhere near 60k on raise.me

Perhaps some schools are better than others, but I haven’t found that to be the case
