Random ?: Does Cornell want to know who use this forum?

Hey, just out of curiosity...

Does Cornell really care about who uses this forum? Is there anyway they find out who uses this forum..

I'm sure there is no "advantage" or whatever during admission process lol...
but just like i said, a random question ...;)

Can be, colleges are looking at myspaces and facebooks of their students, so who knows maybe they have the time to look at forums on the college to see who is enthusiastic to get into Cornell.

dont know much about the VALIDITY of this website, as it is a total joke the majority of the time....but this will shed some light on stuff...or at least interest you.

it kind of freaked me out-

http://ivyleak.com/node/183

There was that issue with the ED decisions getting leaked last year, but they really couldn't care less.

that totally does not relate to the above article at all lol

oooo sorry tun, your post was in response to the starting post. sorry

omg.. they really look at the facebooks and myspace????? really>?? wow..

how can they look at facebooks/myspace if theyre set to private? and i thoguht only friends could look at facebook?

Ya I college-proofed my myspace. Made it so that they couldn't find it. Never removed that jumble tho cuz facebook is the new amazingness!

same you have to be my friend to see ANYTHING besides my pic on facebook

The people who made that website seem like they have some ivy envy. And that article might be completely made up. The writer might be pretending to be a part of the admissions committee in order to give his article credibility (all of it in fact).

If I'm wrong then that guy is a really rotten/immature admissions member. What mature adult says, "We could really use another "diversity club" to suck up student activitiy fees for no reason or benefit at all." I personally take that as borderline racist.

Also, his other post that says the admissions spend approximately 5 seconds on each application contradicts with his statement in this article when he says, "Why these kids think that admissions officers won't hop online and do a little poking around is preposterous." Mathematically speaking, that would be far more than 5 seconds.

yea another thing is they claim to be "insiders" and that they will "explain the process in truth" or something but the web site is nothing more than a collection of articles from college newspapers and related news sites. yea he answered that question about how long colleges read an application but he like skirted the issue he barely answered the question.

i don't know why someone would pose as an admissions officer but i guess that it's probably that the site is largely a farse. and a nasty one too.

I really doubt that colleges check myspaces and facebooks because there is no way to verify the identity of the owner. I could put up a myspace with "sametwochords" plastered all over the site with a huge 72pt header that says
"harvard sucks". But nobody would know it was you.

Relax, kids.

A couple of Admissions Officers at MIT post on CC and use their real names. They answer questions and try to explain their process. They also have their own blog web pages that basically explain what they are doing and when. They don't try to "reverse engineer" who is posting vs their application piles though. Let's face it, there isn't much time to read all those folders.

But I have not seen Admissions Officers from any ofther school on CC.

its hard to say anything about the validity of the website, the posts on CC or anything

i think the best thing we all can just do is be proper, respectful, and dont post pictures of you getting plastered last spring break. (that is, if you did of course)

even if colleges did read this, it wouldnt matter, b/c they won't know what our code names are so it really doesn't make a difference

Are you trying to say that "Silly Rabbit" is not your real name? Too bad, otherwise they would have probably accepted you the moment they saw your name on the application.

As many posters have mentioned the articles are sketchy on their own, but I went ahead and looked up the domain owner’s information and it confirms all suspicions. Don't hold faith in any information provided by ivyleak.com, it is a waste of time and the internet.
