Do you think the order the acceptances are given are based some what on when you applied? I know I submitted my application very close to the deadline. For people that have been accepted to schools like UCSB, UCI and UCR did you guys apply early?

nope… its purely random…i submitted my application the FIRST DAY… and i only heard back from UCR

how about last name? lol

I hope that is not how it is because I applied to Davis the night before the deadline. I think it does apply to CSU’s though – I applied to SJSU and Sac State the 1st day the applications were available…I got my rejected letter from SJSU in late February and Sac State acceptance on the 1st of this months.

It’s random - I applied the day before the last day to apply and got my acceptance to UCSD the first day they released decisions, and still haven’t gotten one to UCI.

Don’t think so, but I submitted mine on Nov. 13th. Still pending with UCSD, got accepted to UCSB though…

hanucol, what major did you apply under at sjsu?

graphic design (same with Sac State). for Davis, I applied for Design (visual communications emphasis, which is pretty much the same thing as graphic design)

Both me and my girlfriend have 3.9+ gpa’s and have not heard back from ucsd. We are econ and math/econ majors, respectively. We applied at the very end of the deadline so I figure that has something to do with it. Though there seems to be a few counter examples to this theory, they could be the exception rather than the general rule, who knows though.

it’s all random.
& i hate it…:)

wow now I am worried then haha haven’t received any responses from all the UC’s I applied to

I thought that as they came across applicants who were above their average applicant (according to their major), they admitted them right away – knowing they were going to be admitted eventually.

Then those that were borderline would have to wait to be judged relative to the applicant pool. So they would receive decisions last.

And other above average applicants that they haven’t come across yet, wouldn’t be admitted until their application was evaluated. Which would happen pretty randomly.

I think this might explain the seemingly random nature of it all.

could be random… i’m still Incomplete, and I applied to SJSU a few minutes after the applications opened.

@hitboy we’re in the exact same situation. I havent heard from ucsd and ucsb and i hate it so much!!!

Tell me about it.
I’m getting more and more worried as the days go by. ESPECIALLY when i find out other people have gotten accepted.
I haven’t heard from anyone.

it has to be completely random (well to us, they could have some crazy order that we will never figure out)
I applied to UCI, UCSD, UCLA, UCB and UCSB
have only heard (accepted) from UCSB and I have a 3.3 GPA and I applied the last day they were due.

It’s not random. Why would these institutions go out of their way to scramble up a database of applicants? Obviously they want you people categorized and ordered at their school. Every single name that is released is on a timed schedule according to some common trait with the other applicants in the same wave. I don’t claim to know what that trait is, but I speculate that one might exist.

Its random. I sent in my application two hours after the deadline (servers were down on the last day) and I got accepted to UCI and UCSD on the first wave.

c5load have you called and asked about your app? I applied right before the deadline and heard back from them a month ago.

I think its random other than the initial acceptances to the students with the highest stats then after that its a crapshoot. I also think that they will release a phase of acceptances once a week from what I have seen. I could be way off but then again I dont think any of us really do know.
