Random Poll: 5 Favorite Clothing Brands

Old Navy/Gap/Ralph Lauren/Levis/Tommy/Nike

(Male)

Chip & Pepper

Ralph Lauren (popular but still not tacky)

Lacoste (Getting way too overworn for the prices. They're expanding like a Wal-Mart)

575

Brands I don't like

Diesel - Why pay $200 for jeans that everyone has? Might as well get $20 jeans if that's the point

AE,A&F, etc. - Same as above. If I want a normal shirt I can go to Walgreens and get one for $2.

wow except for polo i haven't really seen anything good. how about

nike-sb or white label

polo-pref. big pony. nothing, and i mean nothing without a pony

evisu

a bathing ape

l.a. t-shirt companies (stussy, the hundreds, handsome champion)

we dont wear clothes in hawaii
we just wear grass skirts and coconut bras

p.s. don't forget a new era fitted to top it off. sorry but this is the one topic on this whole board i can be a snob about. wanna see how it's done and done well? peep the myspace.

1.Sean John
2.Jordan Brand
3.Rocawear
4.Pepe(nice jeans)
5.LRG

i'm curious to know how many of the posters who've posted in this thread are actually females?
I'm a guy and to be honest I don't know much when it comes to fashion. I've heard of some of the brands here but I don't go shopping much. Usually I just wear whatever my mom gets me every couple of months because there's just not enough money to spend on buying clothes in my family. I try not to make a big deal about it since I have to be considerate on where money goes in the family (paying bills, and other neccesities). I suppose if I had the money I'd spend more time shopping or worrying more about fashion but as it is it's not something I can do.

I'm a guy, and I can hardly recognize five brand names.

ecko
levi's
LRG
marithe francois girbaud

Mango
morgan de toi
Levis
UCB
Seed

eh, the whole hip hop look is getting pretty lame.

it's ****ing ridiculous to pay 100 dollars for a screen printed t-shirt by nigo, I'm getting really tired of the whole 'exclusive' sneaker scene.

big pony looks lame and tacky, it's basically like 'omg look i'm wearing polo' it comes off as down right ghetto.

I really dig Stussy though and the stuff is priced well.

Evisu jeans are pretty nice also.

"it's ****ing ridiculous to pay 100 dollars for a screen printed t-shirt by nigo, I'm getting really tired of the whole 'exclusive' sneaker scene."

i was referencing bapes and the all over hoodies.but the t-shirts are expensive because they are handscreened in very limited quantities.

also, what is ghetto? and what gives you the right to determine what is or is not ghetto? big pony looks dope, end of story.

when stussy started out their stuff was exclusive and limited and very expensive. because they have been able to bulid themselves up over the years they have increased quantity and thus decreased the price of a t-shirt. youre still gonna pay close to 100 for anything else.

so basically you hate on exclusives but when exclusives arnt exclusive you like them? tight

Are Stussy and Evisu foreign names? I have never encountered them.

stussy is from l.a. and evisu is from japan

Ok it figures.

The Bape Camo hoodies are pretty tight, but not for the price. Some of the sneakers are nice but at the same time they're just like Nike's with pastel patent leather.

As for ghetto? It's just dumb to wear really big logos, it's like back when Tommy Hilfiger went after the 'urban' market, they started making t-shirts with these huge Tommy logos covering them. The brand quickly turned to trash and now they're trying to fix that. Do you ever see any other brands really going with huge logos? No. Most high end brands are pretty low key logo wise, look at Prada for instance.

It's ghetto to over play a logo. Much like Chav's in Europe who wear burberry print all over. Or ghetto people who decide to put fake LV print seats in their cars, etc. It's like you're trying to call attention to the fact that you're wearing/have Expensive Brand X.

As for what gives me the right to determine what's ghetto -- I went to school where 40% of the kids were at povery level, I was able to see some of the ridiculous things these kids wore.

I'm glad Stussy was able to build up and now sell cheaper, but Nigo's never going to do that. He said it himself, he doesn't like when too many people wear his clothes. That's why his Busy Work Shops have those limits of 1 purchase per person going on.

oh and w1ked, if you've never encountered them, read <a href="http://www.hypebeast.com%5B/url%5D">www.hypebeast.com</a> every now and then. It's basically a blog that reports on the latest sneakers, kind of urban clothes, etc.

Souther Californian :) ... haven't seen these brands up...

well i have mulitple big pony items and i have never gotten anything but an amazingly positive response. from bouncers at bars to my friend's rich mom, people love it. and it wasn't a big logo that ruined tommy it was over saturation of the market, you should know that.

sometimes that LV print is from a real LV leather roll, i've seen it, the **** is crazy. but i think this whole ghetto thing you've been preaching is a tad condescending towards a culture you obviously don't understand.

oh and i'd saythat maybe 7 or 8 times out of 10 the point of brand name and desginer is to call attention to it and you.

yeah bape and bws will stay exclusive so you will stay hating, you're only further proving my points.

i think it's funny that you know the beast and check the beast but you hate on the scene. youre like a self hating sneaker head. oh and the fat guy from death cab thinks you're a douche too

Wow, calling me a douche, great way to argue.

No, not a joke.

What started out as just a official US Open replica shirt became a more commercial endeavor. On TV, (golf & tennis), logos must be larger in order for them to be noticed. That was the reason for the larger logo.

I guess consumers then wanted the same logo, but in the typical Polo colors, and on other things like oxford shirts, fleece, etc.

It's a little obnoxious for the true Polo customer probably, but oh well...to each is his own.

I'm not alone in my dislike for the big pony polo.

My point with Stussy was that I liked them for actually putting out t's that were priced well. Hell, BAPE really isn't all that original. Nigo was just playing off of Planet of the Apes. It would be one thing to actually make original t-shirts and sell them off for a high price (like some of the stuff featured in hypebeast)

Your point on brands is pretty off too. Do you see Hermes writing hermes all over their ties? For the most part no. Same goes for Thomas Pink shirts. YSL, Prada, etc. Sometimess LESS is BETTER.

I Check Hypebeast because I like certain things they feature on the site. There are sneakers on there that are actually well priced and look great.

Chuck Anderson of nopattern at <a href="http://www.thebrilliance.com%5B/url%5D">www.thebrilliance.com</a> said it best

Every day I care less and less about hype brands and the whole sneaker world. I know that sounds like a sin to a lot of you but I just do not care about fashion at all these days. I don't even dress all that well, I wear flip-flops in the summer, and honestly wish people stopped caring about who has the rarest and freshest shoes on. Ben made a really good point in that last post. Let's try to start being inclusive, not exclusive. What's the point? Limited this, limited that. Boring.

and if you don't know about Chuck, he's getting to be a big designer right now who recently designed a shoe at reebok.

I love those big pony shirts! If only A&F would do the same thing with the moose!

Polo shirts are like the best shirts ever made...I wear one pretty much every day, usually an A&F one.
