There was a girl (mayafairy?) two years ago who insisted that NMH was a safety, and I think she was rejected.

Does anyone know why NMH asks about height and weight and other health information? It’s optional, but why would they care? They can’t discriminate, right?

That does seem a bit odd… 2 of the schools that my d applied to last year asked for a photo with the app… Do many schools ask for that?

@stargirl, one of the athletic interest forms S2 filled out asked for height & weight. Perhaps NMH is asking in that context?

Could be… and @cameo43, the ones whose own application I did asked for a photo. My guess is that they just want to put a face to the name.

That would make sense… Must be difficult to remember all those applicants when you’ve interviewed hundreds of them!

Not when one is me! Just kidding.

Kind of.

But of course, stargirl. I meant to add that.

Does anyone find it odd that Andover only mails decisions but requires application materials to be electronic while Exeter emails decisions and has a few mail-in forms?

Also, my transcripts weren’t sent to a few Gateway schools because it didn’t have a place to upload them. It’s all under control, did this happen to anyone else?

Stargirl, Last year, we asked the counselor to scan/email the transcripts. Since all our school records are electronic, she just emailed the PDF to schools.

Okay this is my first time posting and I didn’t want to start my own thread, so here’s my question: I live in Hong Kong and need an off campus interview, and you know how there’s an off-campus interview request? Well, I assumed I had already submitted it three months ago but apparently I hadn’t, and when I figured that out it was already too late (over the deadline). So basically I have no interview for Groton. And it says on the website that not having an interview will not affect the admission decision, but isn’t the interview a big part of the application? Does this diminish my chances greatly?

Hate to say but the answer is probably yes.

I am also having an off campus skype interview with Groton. Don’t worry if you haven’t done it yet, the off campus and skype interviews continue on February too. And I received an email from them, saying that they were arranging the interviews and I should be in touch, to get more info about the arrangement. So dont worry very much about it… Send an email asking, maybe?

HAVE you called or emailed them? Maybe you have, but it continually astonishes me how reluctant people are to contact the admissions offices with very legitimate questions. These schools are looking for students who can self-advocate (you’re going to be on your own much more than non-BS kids, after all), so go ahead and start now–call the admissions office (I know you’re far away, but I still think a call is better than an email)), explain what happened, and ask if there’s ANY WAY you can still do an interview.

Thank you guys so much! Should have found this website sooner, it would have helped tons during the application process which I blundered through. Anyway, so I just called the admissions office and the lady (she was extremely nice) told me that no, they couldn’t schedule an interview but that it wasn’t a lost cause, and that later on if they were interested in my case they would contact me for an interview. So fingers crossed they contact me later

Did you call and explain the situation? People there are super nice. :)

@whyami, FYI, about Groton.

It’s a small school and is particularly difficult to get into bcs it has an 8th grade class. So it adds only around 60 new 9th graders and around 10 new 10th graders, and then u have to divide that number in half to determine the number of boy & girl slots. Only 14% of the students are int’l, so I’m estimating the school probably adds one boy and one girl from china/hongkong to each grade.

U are competing against a very large number of your countymen for probably ONE available spot.

@stargirl3 yes I did, they were very understanding! Super nice I agree
and @GMTplus7, I knew right from the beginning that the chances of getting in were extremely slim, but I didn’t let that stop me from applying. Fully prepared for rejection but it’s still worth a shot.

@whyamievenhere 1. I love your username. 2. I re-read your post and see that you said you called. I’m redundantly redundant. Good luck! :)

@stargirl3 haha the thing is now I’m reading collegeconfidential obsessively and worrying and I know I should stop and there’s no point but I can’t help it. Oh and thanks, good luck to you too!
