Thanks, @notrichenough. I’m just being cranky. We’re getting some legal advertisement directed to firefighters who used some carcinogenic foam to fight fires about eight times an hour. No joke – eight times an hour.
Any suggestions for a spot cleaner for upholstered chairs? The chairs are hand me downs, with a dark fabric. As I don’t know if the fabric is washable or dry clean, I need a cleaner that is safe for either. There are some old food stains that I would like to remove without removing the color also. I tried a barely damp rag on a few spots, but these are stains that have been there for years; think small children and their dirty hands!

Do a small area first as a test.
I have had good results with a product called Spot Shot Professional Stain Remover (you can use on carpets and upholstery). Test it first.
Yes to both Spot Shot and Oxi. Also, try Resolve spray cleaner (again, in a small, hidden out of sight area so if it causes discoloration you would not have to throw out the whole thing).
We’ve always bought Spot Off stain remover from a local company: DA Burns. It’s a great product (and DA Burns is the best local (Seattle-ish) place to get carpets of all kinds cleaned or repaired). Not sure if it’s the same as spot shot…
Good to know!! Thank you @zeebamom! As the saying on one of MR.’s tees goes, “we work hard to buy things for our cats to puke on.” ?
@BunsenBurner - in our case it was things for pugs to pee on. And they did. Often.
Feeling rather foolish having to ask this question, but I can’t figure out how to start a new thread on this forum. I have done so in the past, and there was a place to click on to “start a new thread”. Now all I see are the existing threads and boxes to “search”. I have a feeling I am just not seeing it, but thought I would ask.
@mom2and, look for the orange “ask your question now” box near the top!
On the mobile site the orange “ask your question now” button is near the bottom.
You may need to be in landscape mode rather than portrait mode to see the “Ask your question now” box.
Anyone else notice that there suddenly seems to be a significant influx of new posters claiming to be “rising college sophomore” posting random questions about a variety of things? Call me suspicious, but sure seems to be a transparent attempt to increase traffic.
I was just thinking the exact same thing @jym626
Glad to hear it isn’t just me seeing this. They all seem to have the same “voice” as well. Different topic, and posted in different places, but same tone/writing style.
Don’t you think if you were making up posts you’d vary your story - so say you’re a freshman/sophomore/junior whatever?
I think I wouldn’t spend time thinking about this. If you question a poster, don’t participate on their post.

It has nothing to do with participating in any posts (I didn’t). It was an observation. The stories are different, but they all seemed to be “rising sophomores”, all new and all at once, so it struck me as peculiar.
There was talk a while back about creating a new forum someplace so we can have general discussions. Does anyone remember the person who offered to do that and would they still be willing?
I’m saying if there is a CC person planting posts, I think most people would be smart enough to vary their posts a bit - from freshman to sophomore to parent of, etc…
@VaBluebird do you mean a new forum here on CC??? Don’t we have general discussions here???

Sorry, no, other than here where we could discuss topics forbidden here. The previous discussion however surrounded the time that the design of this place changed and there were all kinds of issues that have since been fixed like font size and color. That discussion had nothing to do with content, just readability.
