For all Fordham applicants!

Just last year, I too went through the process of applying to Fordham and trust me it was not easy. With that being said now that I am here about to complete my first semester I can not tell you how "awesome" this school truly is!! The classes, students, activities, and over all experience here at Fordham whether at LC or RH is amazing!!!!
The teacher are all friendly and take the time to speak to their students, your advisors will give you the attention you need. The teachers are open to letting you revise or make up work if you have been experiencing something difficult and are unable to complete your assignment.

Socially:
There are groups and activities for EVERYONE. This means all interests and opinions are accepted. Next semester I will be starting a NEW CLUB!
There are many events which are great to attend even if you are not the type to go to parties, for example the Presidents Ball.

As a freshman at LC none of my classes had more then 50 students, and for undergrad schools this is RARE.

The facilities are all very well kept and of high quality!
Because there are two campuses for Undergrads students are free to take classes at which ever campus they desire and be part of any activity. There are Ram Vans to take you back and forth so you don’t even have to pay for the train. (You will get a free pass for the car ride only if you are taking classes at the opposite campus or have to meet up with someone.)

A couple of times now I have received and email from the Enrollment Office( this email is sent to everyone) that if my family and I have been directly affected by the economic collapse to write a letter in hope of receiving more aid. That is truly awesome, our school is able to offer more to those students whose parents have been laid off!

Lastly:
Three new dorms are being build and so MORE STUDENTS CAN LIVE ON CAMPUSSS!! WOOO!
Happy Holidays everyone!

Make Fordham your choice!

Obviously you and I attend two different schools.
I attend LC and am trying to transfer out.
ASAP.

.....hahahahahahhaha

I attend LC maybe I have seen you around!
PlattsburghLoser that does suck, Have fun at the next college:)

My cousin also attends LC. She really loves it! I really hope I get in.

Thanks a lot for this post.

While every school experiences some transfers, I have to chime in here. Freshman year is full of stress and adjustment and its notable after mid-terms, Thanksgiving and gets a really full head of steam around January. It does get better and I strongly advise kids to stay focused on studies and acknowledge that adjusting to college life/dorm life is a challenge even for the most well balanced students.

My D is at Rose Hill. We went through this last January-February and we even went up to NYC to fluff up the feathers and help her get over her case of the flu and dorm drama. By March she was on her feet and doing fine. Now she is thriving and loving it more than ever. It really does get better.

There is dorm drama. There is roommate drama. There is professor drama. There is grade drama. Cafeteria drama. All sorts of stuff. It goes on at every college in the country, big or small, city or rural, public or private. Most of the time, it passes and kids get over it, if they avoid the boo-birds and negative karma people who are only fanning the flames of transfer-itis. That is not to denigrate your feelings or dismiss your experiences. But a lot of this is just adjustment stuff. Living in a small space is not easy for any human being. And college is SO different from high school.

To Plattsburgh: Did you ask about moving to Rose Hill? Maybe that experience would be different and better for you, as its more a classic college campus and less "urban". Fordham really is a wonderful school with great programs and wonderful people. Did my D have EVERY professor turn out amazing? No. Two were TOTAL duds. One is now gone. She did have some amazing profs...one who died midterm of a heart attack...and that was very tragic and very sad, but the replacement was fine. And one who was super....a warm and endearing mentor...who REALLY helped her when she needed it the most in the depths of her despair and loneliness and being homesick....who was offered a wonderful job elsewhere and took it....but that experience was life changing for her....such a wonderful person who took the time and trouble to pick my D up when she was down and feeling lonely (we are NOT New Yorkers) .....and other profs who stimulated her intellect something amazing. And this year, she adores all of her classes and is slamming them. So it does get better, it really does.

LC is very special and being in the city its somewhat unique...like a mini NYU. Maybe a change to Rose Hill would help.

Other than that, you have to look in the mirror and really examine what it is that is bothering you...and if you need to learn to adapt, adjust, be more tolerant etc. I know, dorms can be highly annoying and cloying. People can be inconsiderate and noisy, or just plain irritating. But that is true at every college. So think real hard before you jump ship.

Last year in January there were lots of kids filling out transfer forms.....its an annual festival of transfer-itis. It passes. Of those filling them out, only one left from my D's dorm that I am aware of. The others all decided to stay and are doing wonderfully.

So hang in there, work hard, cheer up, and be positive!

PlattsburghLoser: that's a shame. though if you don't like LC you should look into RH. i had a former roommate who went to LC. he hated it there and likes it much better here. from my experience at LC and RH, both campuses are definitely different. i have my bias toward RH since that's where i dorm.
