-AP IV English
-Senior Advisory - essentially this is a 'class' (more like a social studies practicum) where only a few seniors out of 1000 kids are able to guide freshman for a period throughout their school year, it's sort of like we are teachers for one class period. shows leadership and selectivity?
-Calc III - taken through uofi, an actual college course with transfer credits
-AP Statistics
-orchestra or AP environmental science (not sure yet)
-APMacro/Micro
-gym

will consistent b's in math hurt me? im not planning to do anything math related, even though i take the hardest math classes
will lack of ec's in freshman year hurt me? i tried alot of stuff but they arent worth mentioning.
chance me for uchicago
gimme a few colleges that are good for my range

thinking about:
ucla, Berkeley, UCHICAGO, northwestern, duke, washu, ivies (maybe)

Thank you so much for reading!!!

i will chance back if asked

Buuuuuuuuump.

ucla is your best bet out of that list, unless you are hooked, you have a very little chance at the rest of those schools, your gpa is a bit low, your sat’s are good but not great, and your ec’s are lacking (for the schools you are looking at). You have to realize that you are competeing with probably the valedictorian of every decent school in the country at the very least and everyone applying has a 2200+ sat score with mind blowing ec’s. its very tough, but getting your sat score up to 2300+ and applying ed will help your chances greatly

GPA and class rank looks good for your level of rigor, aside from math; but, it’s not like you’re failing so don’t sweat it
freshman year’s an adjustment period for many, myself included, so emphasize what you’ve done since
if i were you, i’d keep orchestra over AP enviro. science
do you think that your SAT scores wouldn’t benefit from a retake?

UCSD, UNC, UVA?

im actually planning on probably not sending in SAT scores if i get 34+ on the act, and i’m not too worried about my act scores anyway. ill probably retake SAT eventually, but i think my ec’s are actually okay considering that my youth and gov statewide elections are great, but that’s just me.

thanks for all the input!

I think rigor should make up for your math grade if you’re not doing anything with math. You might have a shot at UChic–I have a friend who got accepted with pretty similar grades/courses. If you expand in an essay why you didn’t have extracurriculars in freshman year, it could turn out pretty decent. You just have to spin how you tried lots of things in a positive light. This is just my opinion–I’m still a junior and don’t know much either. I’d recommend schools, but I’ve only been looking at ones stronger in engineering and you’re not really going in that direction. Chance me back? (I have another thread)
