JHU, Tufts, Columbia are good places to look at. Barnard, if you're a girl.

I did apply to Hopkins and Tufts (but won't get into either). I'm a guy, so, no Barnard..

What are your stats? Why don't you think you'll get into JHU or Tufts?

I assume you want to be a spin doctor for the White House?

Um, no.

I enjoy politics, and it's a good pre-law study. I'm not deluded. I know the chances of me actually becoming a full-time writer are next-to-none. I just want to receive the training so that one day, just maybe, I can publish that great American novel, but, in the overwhelmingly likely scenario that it doesn't work out, there's always a law degree to fall back on. :)

"Heh...only problem with Iowa, not the the best place for a Northeastern Jew."

Iowa has a relatively large jewish population (about 5% or 1500 in the student body). Also, a small but close knit hasidic community exists in Iowa City.

Hillel.org estimates 600 Jewish undergraduates at U Iowa; IE, 2.6%...not nearly high enough.

true, but 600 jews is probably twice as many as most liberal arts schools

Not for most top colleges. We're the "white Asians." Overrepresentation all the way!
