Rank Ivies If you were gaurenteed acceptance.....

Because most of the people who go to cornell, are not cross-admits.

I would just pick Wharton because the other Ivy's don't even have business programs which is pretty gay in my opinion, I wouldn't even know what to major in at Harvard or the rest.

I just think that its ridiculous how people are parading about with "their" ranking system...99.99% of the people on these boards would choose HYP above all other schools if admitted, so let's not get ahead of ourselves by ranking Brown or Dartmouth or some other school ahead of them...you're essentially lying to yourselves (at least be honest about it ppl)

Princeton (all the way!!) :)

Dartmouth

Cornell

Yale

Harvard

UPenn

Brown

Columbia

slicmlic2001

That's unfair. A MAJORITY of people on CC WOULD choose HYP, but not 99.99%....I have no desire to attend any of those school, and would definitely attend Brown over them. Lots of people have other schools on the top of their lists because they would pick them over HYP. Name recognition isn't everything to everyone.

Also depends on how much you care bout your future -a lot of med schools won't take many students out of Harvard for instance b/c of grad inflation. I know a student who went to Harvard, then left b/c she thought it felt like a state school

harvard isnt everything, depends on what the student is looking for from a school harvard may not be a match for everyone. like engineering students would rather choose cornell over HYP, others may like certain geographic location better. Its totally unfair to say that 99.99% of the people here would go to HYP; maybe some people can find what they are looking for at HYP, others might simply match better with another school.

slicmlic2001 -
I find it ridiculous that you can make a blanket statement about the honesty of members of these boards. You may be driven solely by brand names but that certainly does not mean that 99.99% of people here are. If your statement were at all true, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, UPenn would get few if any early decision applicants. That's clearly not true. The reality is that when you're talking about colleges at this level, you can get the same education at Cornell as you can at Harvard. In fact, depending on the major, you could get a better education. It isn't always about the name. There was a rather large thread on these forums about choosing a "lesser" school over an Ivy or Ivy-caliber one. I suggest you take a look at it.

BROWN

Yale
3.Princeton
4.Columbia
5.Harvard
6.Cornell
7.UPenn
8.Dartmouth (I've lived in NH and never want to go back lol)

O and slicmlic, you are just foolish...I would choose Brown over HYP in a second...

OK, fine, let's say a majority of people would choose HYP over the other ivies. lets even say 50%.

That still doesn't explain the rankings people are giving.

1)Penn (im a party kid)
2)Princeton
3)Brown
4)Cornell (its so close to those crazy ithica kids)
5)Harvard
6)Yale
7)Columbia
8)Dartmouth
But screw ivies... if i could go anywhere it would be UC-Berkeley

Grow up, Bball87.

One of my best friends at Penn turned down Harvard to go there. And that's Penn College, not Wharton.

ok..i met a kid at cornell that got into Yale, but cornell offered him substantly more money with FA, which was 10,000 more in grants compared to that in loans w. Yale. What is ur pt?

1) Princeton
2) harvard
3) Yale/Columbia
4) Brown
5) Dartmouth
6) Cornell
7) Penn

Tpeck - Cornell is the only other ivy with a business program for undergraduates, it's in the college of agriculture and life sciences.

My neighbor turned down Yale for UPenn. She visited UPenn, liked it a lot, and never even visited Yale. Money was the same, I think.

The sad thing is, I think you're serious. I am honest when I say I do not want to attend Harvard or Pton. Yale for graduate, maybe. But that is an incredibly dumb ****ing statement. I tend to doubt EVERYONE wants to go to HYP. Hopefully kids will pick the schools right for THEM. I'm writing an article about prestige whoring when it comes to colleges for my school's paper sometime soon. Perhaps I will quote you. ;)

Oh and fyi, I too know people who've gone to Penn or Dart over Yale and Harvard.

of course. everybody does. but would you agree you know more people who've gone to HYP over Penn or Dart or Brown?

COLUMBIA!

Yale

UPenn

Cornell

Brown

Dartmouth

Harvard

Princeton

I'm really surprised that someone earlier in the thread implied that Brown and Dartmouth weren't prestigious enough... haha, that seems ironic somehow? Maybe compared to HYP, places like Cornell and Dartmouth don't seem like such fantastic names, but all the Ivies are prestigious.

As for me, I would choose Columbia over all the rest any day.

Harvard (always been my dream)

Yale

Dartmouth

Princeton

Brown

UPenn

Cornell

Columbia
