Rank the dorms

Could someone rank the dorms both honors and Regular, in their opinion

It's really hard to rank them because there is so much variety in room size, hall size, location, age, specialized program housing, and price.

Can you give some criteria in what you are looking for in a dorm?

I would think a few catogories are important:

1) Phyisical condition/age
2) Proximity to main campus amenities
3) something special ie: private baths

Are the freshman in certain dorms?

Not, really, you just aren't going to get into the apartment style dorms, but with the north campus residence halls, that really isn't an issue.

Frankly, unless you want a certain dorm for a certain reason (for example, Tutwiler is close to Sorority Row), you can't go wrong with Ridgecrest/Lakeside/Riverside. These dorms are easier to get into if you are in honors.

Most of the time, best means nicest/newest. In that case Ridgecrest > Lakeside > Riverside. They are suites with 1,2,4 bedrooms and with 1,2 bathrooms (2 for 2/4 bedrooms).
Bryant (suite style like Ridgecrest/Lakeside/Riverside) has full size beds and is right next to several classroom buildings. Only for football players and male engineers though. Lakeside, Riverside and Ridgecrest are close to Lakeside diner which comes in handy on some late nights. Bryce, Rose, and The Highlands are apartment style with full kitchens so you can cook your own food. Whether the trade off between newer dorms vs full kitchen is worth it is an individual decision. The best "dorm" hands down is The Bluff. They are luxury off campus apartments that the university leased to accommodate for the influx of students to our campus. But freshmen most likely won't be living there during the first year.
The majority of the other dorms on campus are traditional dorms. Community bathrooms, 2 people in a room, etc. Coed vs single sex varies.

Also the Bluff costs way more than the other residence halls (they don't call them dorms anymore...), but you won't notice if you have housing as part of your scholarship.
