Oh, and another thing... when I said I was ranking them for undergraduate studies, I meant I was ranking them in terms of prestige and competitiveness (which often go hand in hand). I have no idea what the ranking would look like if based on quality of undergraduate education, but I suspect slightly different!

Pacers: Sorry for dredging up an old thread! I just searched through the forums for 'Oxbridge' and it's what I found - I should have been more careful. We can let this thread die another death now, if that's what people want... (although I suspect people are as interested in this topic now as they ever were.)

P.S. The US is 6 hours behind, not ahead. ;)

How successful are Oxbridge undergraduates at applying to top US Grad Schools (HYPSM) as opposed to ivy league undergraduates?

I have heard that US grad schools favor Oxbridge applicants because of their depth of specialized education. Can anyone verify this?

And, can it not be assumed that Oxbridge is probably better for undergrad education, while US unis are better for graduate school?

With regards to the Oxford/Cambridge prestige thing, I think it is assumed that Oxford is best/most respected for the humanities, while Cambridge is for sciences. Is this correct?
