If you read studentdoctor.net you will see how very hard it is getting a medical school seat. If you are fortunate enough to get a guaranteed seat, think long and hard before giving it up.
When my D got accepted into Cornell neuroscience, a doctor in my family said you have to take the guaranteed medical school spot not neuroscience. She said any spot in the US was a great spot. The decision was even easier since the guaranteed gave 50 percent merit compared to 30 percent with the other.

You’re definitely right. Focus here is to become a doctor and not worry about prestige. Couldn’t have been offered better advice!

The ones that I think are top ranked (based on the ranking of the med school):

Rice

Brown

Northwestern

Baylor

Case Western

UCSD

PITT has one of the highest rated med schools in USA…would be FIRST or SECOND of all BS/MD schools.

How does BU’s Med school rank in comparison to the schools mentioned? And are the programs affiliated with NJMS & Drexel lower tier/middle tier programs?

One can rank his choices only after acceptance. Get accepted to few then rank what you have. Otherwise, you are wasting your time as it is as futile (or more?) as ranking Ivy’s.

Miami is right. Further, the cutoff dates are fast approaching, and they vary greatly. If I was going to make a quick list it would not be “prestige” or ranking of medical schools.

How would you rank then?

It would be after merit and need aid was subtracted for an instate or out of state student so you can make a determination of what the total coast of the UG degree will be. Then I would compare med school tuition to get a total cost and compare that.

Prestige will not pay your student loans. You performance in medical school will greatly impact your residency placement.

Finally, once you got your list make that oak tag chart with app due date, date sent, date supplement sent, date check sent or payment received on website, date transcript and teacher recs sent, SATs and ACT sent, summer college transcripts out, FAFSA out, med school interview date, websites passwords, comments i.e. call admission officer Smith monthly. View daily for two minutes.

Time is of the essence and get accepted first!

Completely agree with Raycmr and MiamiDAP!

DITTO(lol)

Have already made the chart! Once again, I should probably focus on sending everything in.
Question: I am taking the SATs in October to see if I can lift it up once more, the results should come out late October. Most of my deadlines, however, are November 1st.
When is the latest I should send in my scores to all the colleges I am applying to?

Check each school’s website to find out which are the latest test scores they will accept. An October test for a November deadline should be fine . . . but check each school’s website just to be sure!

Add one more column for APs sent in so you get the credits.

Ray

do villanova drexel.

UCSD/UCSD is definitely a top program. They are invite-only for 4.0 unweighteds.

Do you have any advice as far as the interviews go? Probably standard, but i got an interview with the NJIT Honors college as the first interview before the med school one. Not sure as to how to prepare, though.

Wait you already got a response from NJIT? I applied there too for the program and I haven’t even gotten a reply on undergrad decisions

See my advice under general interview tips for BS/MD programs. I am not good at cutting and pasting on an ipad. It involves learning a specialty of medicine to interview without notes.

Thanks for that @Raycmr! Quite helpful

I am going to apply BS/MD programs in NJ. Did you apply the Kean/ Drexel join program?
