Rate a Senior schedule

These are my core classes:
Dual enrollment writing class for seniors who have taken AP Lang and Lit already
AP Calc BC
AP European History
Spanish 3

Electives:
Chorus
AP Stats
AP Music Theory

I was considering switching Stats or Music Theory with AP Chem, but I am worried about it being too time-consuming when combined with Calc BC. What do you guys think?

A couple of my friends are enrolled in AP Chem and Calc BC as juniors and they seem to do fine. However, it’s all what you yourself wants to put into the course: taking the time to study, do the homework, but also write your college essays etc.

AP Chem may or may not be time consuming depending on the school. At my school it wasn’t a time-consuming class. You should probably take AP Chem so you have a science class.

Is AP Calc BC double blocked? AP Chem workload depends on your school, so I suggest asking around.

It really depends on what kind of a major you are looking at. An engineering / science field would see taking Chem over music, but a humanities major would see music. It also depends on your personal interests because you will do better in a class that you enjoy taking!

I would swap AP chem with stats or music theory. The workload depends highly on how much chem experience you have and if you’ve already done chemistry it’s not much. Also music theory will be pretty rough unless you’ve already had theory before.

@annana I took honors chem freshman year, but that was a loooong time ago… as for music theory, I played piano for 7 years so I know the basics but I’m no expert in theory. Would I be prepared for chem and music theory?

Looks like you are definitely ready for chem, maybe brushing up your knowledge over the summer will be a good idea. As for music theory, knowing the basics is enough and your piano background should help a lot. It’s up to you.

@annana Thanks!
