Haha i made the title as exciting as i could… okay anyways… would anybody be able to rate my EC’s for me? I am a junior currently looking at some top schools, my first choice being Penn (their business school… wharton? i think its called) (will prob apply ED)
I am a white male from new england… greaaat

Okay, you can tell me if they are really good or really suck or are lacking; and if you can give them a grade 1-10 (10 being the best!)

Sports.
Varsity Tennis Team (9 10 11): 3 varsity letters so far; scholar athlete award every year; coaches award (10); mvp award (11); captain (11); undefeated league champs (10). i also play year round two times a week.

Varsity Cross Country Team (10 11): 2 varsity letters so far; scholar athlete award every year

~plan on continuing all senior year but NOT in college… do NOT want to be recruited… want to focus on schoolwork in college…~

Clubs/Awards Things.
National Honor Society (11): will be officer (12)

got nominated for the national society of high school scholars (dunno if its a scam though haha so i am not sure if i will send in the money to join yet)

~thanks a bundle, please be honest~ i will be sure to chance back just leave a link=]~

yeah i received a nat’l society of high school scholars invite too…is it a scam?? id assume colleges know its not legit if it is…
i would personally try to get pretty involved in one more club, but i know its hard being a 3-sport athlete

My friend was an 11 letter varsity athlete (like yourself) and the valedictorian. He went to Princeton for BS in Bio, UMDNJ for MD, and now UVA for his residency.

If you provide your GPA, SATs (and IIs), and school’s rank in the state, that’ll give more perspective on your ECs. If you’re close to being like my friend, you’ll be fine.

yeah about my business ec’s… haha don’t exist… idk i havent really found anything business related that i am interested in ec wise. but whatever i end up doin this summer, whether it is an internship or classes will be business related…

as for my academic stats, i am unable to post them because they are not finalized yet… i also don’t want to project scores because it won’t do much for me. my school doesn’t supply gpa and rank until next year and the sat i am not done taking…

p.s.: i will not reply to the national society thingy haha

thanks everyone! anyone else up to actually give me like a grade… haha

hmmm…maybe you should think about getting involved with your school’s DECA or FBLA club? And if your school currently doesn’t have one, then start one! It certainly wouldn’t hurt :)

I think they look fairly strong. Starting a business would probably be extremely beneficial, but I think that Penn is definitely possible if you have a strong course load and good test scores.

^yeah you are correct. i wasnt going to put tjat down origionally because i didnt think it was a big deal plus colleges could just see my regents scores on my transcript but my teacher told me to put it down when we were typing up a resume in class. should i keep it or take it off? thanks everyone

Upenn is very hard to get into as it is the top business school in America. My friend recently got in and she spent all her high school years (and 8th grade) preparing for Wharton. She started her own business (it wasn’t very successful but it still counts for something), had two internships, and attended a ton of summer business course. Of course this is not the only way to get into Wharton (she was one big overachiever), but Upenn is certainly looking for this sort of passion and entrepreneurship. I’m probably not the best person to ask, but I would suggest looking for either a job, internship, summer program (or start your own business! it’s never too late!). Some options are: take courses at your community college, register for the Georgetown Gateway to Business for High School Juniors, also many many other colleges offer summer classes related to business. Good luck! Hoped I helped!
