Topic: Are people best defined by what they do?
What defines a person?is it by the work he does?,by his attitude with people?,or by what he does for fun? So, many conditions identify a person, but people keep on judging a person by the work he does,which i find not accurate.
When a person is asked "What do you do?". The person,for instance, will say a doctor.Then people will think that he is diligent,serious,didactic,and patient. However,If the same person is asked "What do you do for fun?" He or She might tell"play with my kids,go to the fair,or hang out with my friends to the bar. So, what I am trying to say is that jobs and what people do doesnt identify who they really are.In fact,It only illustrates a part of them.We even have the same look to a farmers.We think of them as working in their farms all day long and at night taking care of other stuff.In other words,we think of them as diligents and serious.However,they might be the opposite.They might like having fun or doing other stuff with their family and not working all day.
If jobs don’t define a person then what does?Actions are the most,obvious,quality that tells what that person is.Hitler is well known by his actions.Why did we ever call him a racist?Because he discriminated between people in their religions and looks.Why did the scientists say he has phsycological problems?Because he said that he wants to rule the world and that the Germans are the best.We judged him from his actions and words.On the contrary,if asked who is Hitler?Possible reply"He was the president of Germany.If only we said he was a president,we would think he was trustworthy,not racist,fair,and wise.
Also,Our judges on people by their actions and words isn’t better than when a person judges his or her own self."Who are you?"Such a question will let the person define who he really is.He or she will even list his bad and good characteristics that we may not know or saw from his actions.For instance,My friends don’t define me accurately because I don’t reveal the inner me.Therefore,I would judge myself better.
Thus identifing the person in the best way isn’t by what the person does but by the actions and words.Even though actions and words are powerful,A person’s identification of his own self is more accurate because the best one to define a person is the person himself or herself.So the question here shouldn’t be “What do you do?” but “Who are you?”
I wrote this essay timed so I know that there are few mistakes.
