Rate my freshman year schedule!

Hi just wondering if you could let me know what you think of my freshman year first semester schedule, I am majoring in business and minoring in Spanish. Tell me difficulty, any stereotypes, workload levels, and honestly anything would be appreciated! Thank you all

Also taking BUS-X 170 over the summer

BUS-C 106
BUS-K 204
BUS-T 134
HISP-S 280
MATH-M 118 (with McKinley)
SPH-I 151

Looks pretty good to me. C106 is a lot of work, but basically a guaranteed A if you try. K204 is a decent amount of work but not too bad as long as you keep up with it. I didn’t take T134 but heard it is a joke from others. For M118, make sure you go to every class and keep up with the homework. Many people who do poorly just don’t show up to class. I had finite MWF and on Fridays the room was often half or a third full. Also, do the practice exams for M118.

Thank you so much for all the good info!!!

If you are an Indiana resident, even if you are not one, I HIGHLY recommend taking your math courses not at IU. I graduated from HS with a 4.2 & 15+ college credits coming in, but struggled in Kelley immensely. Most people take calc, finite, and micro through ivy tech or a local community college. If someone had told me this before, it would have saved my GPA. Also, your schedule does have any of the other gen ed requirements. You need 6 A&H credits, 3 science, etc.

My overall advice is this:

  • Take finite & calc over the summer or during the school year online through ivy tech or a community college. Transfer credits transfer with a C or above, and do not go into your gpa. This means you can SAVE your gpa by taking the harder courses at a community college & you only need a C! Easy!
  • If you cannot do that due to cost, time, etc. I would swap one of your courses around to balance it. Definitely take Spanish to continue your skills/not lose them. C106 is a lot of work & so it K204, so I would take one each semester & instead take micro in their place. C106 is presentations so its time consuming, and K204 is the same way. Move one to the other semester.
  • MOST people take A100 twice, not everyone, but a lot of people withdrawl & then take it again. I highly reccomend taking it first semester, second 8 weeks. It’ll make your life easier if you decide to drop it & take it again because you won’t feel rushed. Also, Compass is a blow off class 110% so if you take both of those its 2.5 credits & you can swap that out for either K204 or C106!
  • If you are in ace, which i think you maybe, then swap finite for A100 & compass!
