Where do you live? Out-of-state both U of O and UW will be very expensive. Neither is generous with financial aid. There is a big difference in selectivity between the two.

University of Portland - have visited with daughters. Pro: Has rolling admissions, so if you like it and apply early, you can relax if you get in. You’ll find out about your merit scholarship award with the admission letter too, so you’ll have an idea if you can afford it. We visited in the summer, so there weren’t many students around.

Con: It’s in a residential neighborhood, and there isn’t even a little funky (or non-funky) business district nearby. When we asked where the nearest stores (for necessities or fun) were, the student in the admissions office said that Fred Meyer was a couple of miles away! Not easily accessible, and we were really thinking more along the lines of some of Portland’s shopping/restaurant streets. Fred Meyer is great for one-stop shopping, but it doesn’t have much ambiance. They also couldn’t suggest a nearby caf

I’m going to a community college first but then would transfer from Cali

Isn’t Gonzago’s graduation rate somewhere in the 20s?

IwillkillforMIT - ha ha ha. No - 67.9% in 4 years.

OP, non-resident cost of attendance at UW is $47K, and at Oregon it’s $38K, and you’re not likely to get any financial aid from either of these schools.

Is there any particular reason you don’t want to go to any of the California schools which would be far less expensive for you?

AmicaMom: I am sorry, I must have been thinking about the wrong school.

Bumppppppp

I’m interested in why you are ruling out California schools.
