I actually just wanted a deeper look into what that major really is. Can someone help me out?

Sounds like a major that helps you define yourself as "Cultured" xD

But srsly. Ive spent my whole life in, and surrounded by, the Creative & Performing Arts. It was such a hard decision for me to choose just one discipline. I wanted to continue with the violin I had spent me whole life playing, the piccolo I had recently fallen in love with, and the acting that captured my skill & mind. Corny, I know, but it was a big issue for me and ive spent the whole day going on whether or not Im going to regret my decision.

Then I found this.
Should I change my major? Like, now?
Or am I completely off track and better off as a Theatre Major?

I am in RCAH!

There are MANY, MANY Theatre/RCAH double majors. I HIGHLY suggest putting RCAH as your primary major and then double majoring in Theater and here is why.

1- In RCAH, you live in Sny-Phi with all the other RCAH kids. Many of these kids are also RCAH/Theater majors and they have a deep interest in theater and all aspects of art.

2- You don’t have to choose one discipline! RCAH combines elements of all disciplines and then has classes that focus on each. So for example, your freshmen seminar can be an experimental theater class (which many of my classmates took and LOVED).

3- You have opportunities that simple Theater majors don’t have- you can work and perform in RCAH theater events as well as regular theater productions. RCAH has its own theater and performs many plays during the year. Right now they are doing No Exit.

4- RCAH is a very light-credit major and is very, very easy to double major. Plus, you get the benefit of having a pretty you-focused curriculum. The classes vary wildly by section- so, for example, everyone takes RCAH 111 (one of our writing classes) but while I studied transculturation in literature, some of my friends studied transculturation in the contemporary world by blogging and things like that, while others studied Race and Resistance.

I am absolutely in love with this major, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask :).

[17:20] ----:Anyone who’s IN the major really likes it.
[17:20] ----: But the rest of us just consider it a BS major.

I guess as a double major, it sounds fun, but as far as a single major goes, I could understand why he said that.

The only thing really keeping me from saying, Yes, I want MSU, is the fact that they dont require an audition. I dont like that they take anyone. I worked very hard to get into Chapman U (hopefully NYU, too.)

Chapman also has a Screen Acting BFA, too. Does MSU have something like that? What can I expect from the training? Is the RCAH acting stuff just as demanding or more/less?

^ How would he know if he’s not actually IN it? Most people just don’t understand unless you’re in it. That’s all I can say.

I don’t know about the theater department, sorry. I only know about RCAH.
