The only 100% "nice" board on CC is the Barnard board, imo. Everywhere else has pricks, but not here! Okay, the Harvard board is definitely the lulziest. :P But B-nard wins in overall quality of character, imo.

:)

"the final stretch"--long, looooong stretch...

Well, I think regardless of where we end up we should all still keep in touch and share our college experiences with one another. I hope that because we all had enough passion for Barnard to have made our way to this board that admissions will see that same passion in our applications and we'll all end up there together.

I can’t seem to apply that optimism to myself though. I’m really, really scared!

Reading these threads makes me really excited too!! But at the same time I am really setting myself up for a let-down if I get rejected. Well, at least I have people to talk to and share my experience with.

I've been reading different things. Is April 1 the FIRST day we may hear back from Barnard or the LAST day??

firefly, even though we still have a bit of time until we get our decisions, we still have waited the majority of the time. So, I give kudos to everyone in this thread for making it this far! :) Last year, people started receiving decisions on the 22nd, so who knows -- maybe the wait will be shorter than we think.

inasummertown, I understand where you're coming from. I can write optimistic things, but I don't completely believe it for myself. The thing is, I can see myself at places other than Barnard, but Barnard is THE place I want to be. But yes, keeping in contact with you guys is definitely a priority.

And an aside: Do you guys think Barnard's adcoms might be reading this?

Etched, I kind of HOPE they are! But how would they figure out who we were in order to apply our passion to our applications? Boo.

I have always been obsessed with Barnard...but like...if I get rejected, I'll be happy for those of you that get in, while still being sad for myself. We've all formed such a tight bond (I almost typed a g instead of a d. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE). But I hope we all end up together next year and can live in the same dorms and ride the 1 together and go do fun stuff and....ugh. I'm starting to prepare myself for rejection, though, which is probably in my best interest, but it makes me sad nonetheless.

Also, I'm going to add those of you from the facebook group that I don't have yet. JSYK.

Also, to the person that made the FB group, maybe change the title to "The Barnard CC Anxiety Crew?" Because that's what we are!

Do you think that maybe they'd look at the Facebook group? Some of us have identified ourselves there. But I agree; I hope they see this and realize the extent of our Barnard love!

I don't like that some people are able to use flowery language to convince the readers of the applications because it isn't real. You know? Like the people who use Barnard as a "back door" to Columbia get in and someone that loves Barnard doesn't get in. I just wish the college admissions process was less confusing with particulars.

But I definitely do share that fantasy about us all ending up together next year. And I don't like preparing for the worst, which is rejection :[

I also agree that that's a more appropriate name.

Hi everyone!

I've only been on this thread once before, but I was reading it today (because I'm getting super anxious), and it makes me want to go to Barnard even more!!! You all seem so nice and not caddy like on some other threads. I really didn't think I was going to be this nervous but it is so bad-- i can't concentrate on school anymore. Based on what everyone is saying, the letters go out before April (???) is that normal? Also-- do they post accepted/rejected online?

Thirded on the name change.

And so what if they know who we are? I mean, it would be one thing if we were sitting around talking about our bongs and whatnot, but we're not--we're talking about how much we love Barnard. As far as I can remember without actually skimming back through it, there's nothing here that would make them want to reject us.

and hello! ^^

I don't know the answer to either question though, sorry.

HannahB, yeah, we rock :) Feel free to post more; we're all in the same boat! In previous years, decisions have been mailed around the last week of March, so most people hear before April 1. The decisions aren't posted online, but before some people checked via the tracking page. However, I'm not sure if that'll work this year.

firefly, I didn't mean Barnard looking at it in a bad way - I meant looking at this and seeing how large our passion for the school is, which could possibly increase our likeliness of getting in.

Thanks. You guys are really comforting. Now i know why so many people love this therad! ^_^

Um...having just coming back from this college deal this past week, I know for sure Barnard is steadily solidifying its spot all the way atop my list ;D

Anticipation.Anticipation.Anticipation.Oh look, Watchmen's out tomorrow.Anticipation.Anticipation.

Hang in there, ladies... if I had to make a guess, based on past years, I would GUESS that there is a good chance decisions could be mailed out around two weeks from now. Barnard definitely mails theirs out before the traditional end-of-March acceptance date, though. Of course they could do things differently this year and I would feel just awful if I made you guys more anxious thinking they would come sooner and they did not, so take this all with a huge grain of salt!!!

And, someone asked a while back about when financial aid info would be mailed. In the past few years, it has come a few days after the admissions decision in a separate packet.

do any of you other barnard prospectives take the IB?

I do! I'm full Diploma. SIGH.

Blah, anxiety...

churchmusicmom, I was thinking that they'd be mailed then, as well, but then I keep thinking if they aren't actually mailed I'll be worse off because I was expecting them.

When do you think it'd be appropriate to call asking when they'll be mailed out?

do you know what barnard realistically expects in terms of ib grades?? and also, do they email the results or post them on our accounts?

hey you all! I've taken a free sat class in my junior year at a big church near barnard. Every night I would pass by Barnard to take the 1 train and drool because I want to get in so badly that I get hungry. lol okay that didn't make sense. barnard barnard barnard...isn't it such a beautiful name for a college?

I'm glad that everyone's happy the people in here. I admire how we are a bunch of down to earth and outgoing people. It's GGGRRR EATT! :)

Okay, does it make you a stronger college candidate to be IB? And what exactly is IB? My school doesn't offer it and I've always felt like I'm missing out. I know that they take into account that some courses aren't offered and only look at applicants in the context of the courses that their school does offer...but I still feel like I’m not going to be as competitive a candidate because of it.
