summertown - I do know that colleges really really like IB students not only because of the difficulty of the coursework but also the way IB tests students and makes them think. So yeah, if you're an IB student you definitely have an edge. But I dont think it'll hurt you to not be in the program, especially if you're school doesn't offer it. There lots of people who would've been perfect IB candidate but didnt take it because my school has limited IB course selection.

wait, redflowers, what ib grades are you referring to, the actual assesment grades or predicted grades?

IB = International Baccalaureate. It isn't offered at many schools, so don't fret if you don't have it. :) Hopefully it gives an edge, though, because it's a crapload of work and I basically sacrificed two years of my life for it. Heh. :P

I read the part about how selective it is...and oh my...I can't explain how much I want to be one of the select few that gets admitted and gets to read that not as a prospie but as someone that's been accepted. Barnard, you own my heart <3

But I think it's really unhealthy that I found that before decisions will be mailed. Looking at all those events makes me so excited. But they'll also make me sad if I don't get in :[ Argh.

Is anyone else facing something similar? I really want to read more about Barnard, but I feel if I get a no from them, doing so would be a big slap in the face.

I do newspaper (babysitter/good cop), flute (stupid crisis manager/bad cop), AND Model UN (lacky). It's wonderful. Add homework and I usually am spared free time. W.o.n.d.e.r.f.u.l.

Occasionally I also draw and improvise on the guitar/keyboard/flute/kaen/penny whistle. :)

brandnewstate, i was referring to the predicted grades cuz they're the ones that get sent out as a basis for assessment. i know a lot of colleges say "there is no clear cut-off mark", but im assuming they have some minimum requirement level.

and yesh!!! i am so nervous about my decision, but at the same time, I WANT IT NOW!!

Well as long as we're talking about things we do...
I play no instruments because my mother wouldn't let me take lessons, but I always wanted to play piano and think I might take lessons this summer to try and learn the basics.

I do speech, yearbook (where I'm copy editor, which means I rewrite everyone's stories because no one knows how to write. I attempt to teach them. They don't understand. I also used to have a section, which was mad stressful.), NEHS (we tutor little kids and promote literacy), and a few other things.

I really want my decision right now, even if it's bad news, because I decided last night that it's better to know that bad news than to not know at all.

Oh, copy editing. I'm Ed in Chief of my school newspaper and my god, the amount of time I spend rewriting stories. :| It's enough to make me tug my hair out.

I draw/write slam poetry (mostly rap)/La Verdad substance abuse prevention peer leader/harmony among lynn teens(HALT) event coordinator for our annual HALT Conference/Part of the solution Lynn Youth City Council/I'm usually preparing for major events in our city and closely with our city newspaper to publicize these events/NHS is taking over my life! lmao, 100 hrs. of comm. service/Mothers Against Drunk Driving facilitator for "Why 21?" workshops/and somewhere in between I have to make time for breathing and taking care of my baby brother and sister :)
