inasummertown: Most of my family lives in the general South Florida area (except a few cousins in NY/NJ, California, and an aunt in RI) so we have those type of get-togethers all the time.

I'm taking the whole "decisions mailed" thing with a grain of salt, most likely because I don't want my rejection letter this week. But just in case, I've told my mother that she may not under any circumstances check the mail when she gets home before me until after I've heard from Barnard.

I just don't want it to come on my birthday which is the week after next. Day before/day after, fine. (well, only if it's good news haha) but on my birthday? No. Because I know that whenever it comes it won't be good news.

I told my parents today to not open ANY college mail for me anymore. They have an annoying habit of doing that (because often I take naps after coming home from school, and they just open my mail and tell me what's in it later). Normally I don't mind, but I want to be the one to open my mail this time!!!

Gah I'm so nervous. I wonder if I'll know by looking at the envelope itself... (w/o opening it)

yea, I'm sticking to the I'm not checking the mail anymore until April 1st. I give up! I live in a building and the mail is like almost three hallways down..the anxiety of walking down that hallway only to find tiny envelops for MY PARENTS lmao...and not me! Agh! Its driving me nuts. I'm not checking the mail anymore! = /

Where I park my car is right next to our mailbox, so I'm not letting my mom get the mail and just checking it the second I get out of my car after school. Checking the mail makes me feel nauseous though, since I'm a really anxious person.

And I think it's usually easy to tell by envelope.

gakk i wish i could find out now!!
all my friends have been accepted to at least one place where they really want to go. and here i am just sitting, waiting for april 1 =[

Yeah, I am not so sure that the info about the acceptances going out today is so reliable (since it's Sunday). Could conceivably have been Saturday, though. Or Monday...

But, FYI: you will know right away that you are accepted (if they do it as they have the past several years, at least) by the fact that a large Express Mail envelope will be there. :)

Wait, how would you know that they are being sent out this week? And if they have been I should be getting mine really soon because its express mail and I live on the East Coast! Yikes!!

Just so you ladies know, if I were you I would never rely on the mail...never! I live very close to Barnard (just a few hours by car) and I was one of the last to get a letter...people in CA got their letters before me. I killed myself over that weekend because I thought that I would not get accepted...and now I'm def going to Barnard. So don't think about that stuff, it will only get you crazy. It's not too long now until they come back with decisions! :)

Ah! Am I dreaming or did you say decisions were mailed today??? Is that only accepted or rejected as well? Do you happen to know if Barnard notifies by email to internationals? Otherwise I'll be waiting for at least two weeks!

Where's a time machine when you need it? =(

The scary thing is that that poster seems reliable....Obviously nothing is mailed on Sundays though....freaks out anyway And I'm on spring break, too, so I don't have any distractions. dies

So, what is everyone's favourite thing about NYC, omitting Barnard?

I love the atmosphere of NYC..there's always people outside regardless of time. Also I love that stores are always open-- so you don't have to live off dining hall food all the time =]
