RD 2013 Anxiety Thread

So...I really need to finish Beloved. And get my presentation ready in case I have to present tomorrow. Instead, I'm on CC. This is problematic. I blame you all for being so awesome.

We should immortalize our frustration with CC eating up our lives by making commemorative facebook flair.

(I'm jk. Please nobody do this...)

pleaseee choose one!!!

Unique Vintage

or

1930's Style Silver Ruched Satin & Rhinestone Prom Dress - XS to XL - Unique Vintage - Prom Dresses, Pinup dresses, Rockabilly dresses, prom dress

these are prom dressess!

thanks!

^ I would choose the first, but only if you're tall.

Otherwise the second.

Well, here's what I think: It depends on skin tone. Silver (as in the second) works better on "cooler" skin tones, i.e. skin tones with more blueish hints. Red, however, works well with "warmer" skin tones, i.e. red and yellow hints. So it all depends. They're both stunning, though. Now, I kind of want to post my prom dress for you guys :)

ALSO, almost done with my Beloved presentation. Then I want to read at least some of the rest of the book tonight (I only have to present certain chapters haha).

Yeah, if you're darker skinned I would suggest the red.

okay so I've decided to wear the rhinestone dress except I'm undecided about the color of the dress. There is white or silver.

pls help me choose once more! thanks!

1930's Style Ivory Ruched Satin & Rhinestone Gown - XS to XL - Unique Vintage - Prom Dresses, Pinup dresses, Rockabilly dresses, prom dress

or

1930's Style Silver Ruched Satin & Rhinestone Prom Dress - XS to XL - Unique Vintage - Prom Dresses, Pinup dresses, Rockabilly dresses, prom dress

I'm chinese with a kind of orangish white skin tone..LOL I'm a queer. anyways, I'm not considered as tanned either. I'm just not pale. hehe

so I was thinking..white dress = bride instead of a prom girl
But I thought the white dress looks better than the silver one.

yeah I'll shush and let ya'll give me some suggestions :)

Yeah, I like the white better than the silver.

I'd go with the white. White looks better on ALL skin tones. It makes even the palest person look slightly tan :)

And because I feel like posting my prom dress:

BCBGMAXAZRIA Strapless Ombr Gown - Long - Bloomingdales.com

Me too. But I get what you're saying about the "bride" look.

Err...yeah, as the official "palest person" on this thread (I will win this, trust me.), I beg to differ. White dresses make me look pink, not tan. But since cantochickk is Chinese, I don't think she's going to have that problem. :)

and that dress is gorgeous, btw.

Touche, firefly. hehe. I'm from South Florida, so I think our definition of pale is much different than that of most other places in the world ;).

firefly, we may have to duke this one out. I am officially referred to as "skim milk" in my family due to my chalk white skin. (I prefer "southern belle pale", but there you go.) ;)

Still, my prom dress is white, albeit with silver lining and a black sash. I actually like white dresses a lot, but I think I'm saved from being washed out due to red hair + blue eyes. Otherwise I think the paleness + white would equal utter catastrophe.

holy shinanikins! mp153, ur prom dress is beautiful! It's definitely worth $578 dollars. but damnnn this is EXPENSIVEEEE

oh snap this thread moves fast! Thanks for the welcome wishes, girls!

It's a little ironic that the discussion right now is centered on prom and Kanye because last year, I actually saw Kanye (with Lupe Fiasco, NERD, and Rihanna) the night before my junior prom! haha, let's just say that with pre-show tailgating, the actual concert, the traffic on the ride home, school, prom, and then the all-night post-prom thing my school does, I did not sleep for like THREE entire days. Well worth it, though!

I'm sure you'll all look fly no matter what prom dresses you pick!

squaregirl--you're on. I see that we're both redheads here, so it may come down to freckle counts, no? Haha, I still think I've got you beat, though.

Yeah, last year for Homecoming I wore a cream-with-black-lining dress, and it worked out alrightish. But from past experiences I've found that wearing anything pure white has a tendency to make me look fuschia, especially in fluorescent lights cringe. Maybe I'm just paranoid. :)

i got accepted to RPI! :)
im glad that some school wants me.

cantochik- jessica mcclintock has really pretty prom/ball dresses also.

mp153- that dress is gorgeous.

and for the people that were wondering about prom, our school had a junior prom and a senior ball. i went to prom last year, and it was really pretty. its really fancy and the DJ plays musci that fit everyone's music style. ball.. is just supposed to be an even nicer version of all that.

Congratulations carothetaro! :)

And, yeah, cantochickk, the white one is gorgeous!

Congrats, carothetarto!

And, firefly, FRECKLE COUNT IS ON TOO. If we wind up at Barnard, we should have a redhead face-off. First one to blush loses! =P
