RD 2013 Anxiety Thread

congratulaions, carothetaro! that’s wonderful news :]

squaregirl–very well, then. :)

carothetaro–congrats! :)

Congrats, carothetaro! And thanks about the dress :)

Okay…does anyone have ANY clue when this week they’re mailing? I really need to book a flight this week if I have to go to the thing at NYU and I won’t be going to that if I get into Barnard.

sigh I got rejected from macaulay honors. Idk if you guys know about this school. :frowning: This sucks.

I really want/need to stay in the city. now my only hope left is barnard. :(

I got crap financial aid from Smith AND Mt. Holyoke. So, I too need to get into Barnard. :frowning: Otherwise, I have to take a year off.

Hi guys!
I thought I’d introduce myself since i’ve practically been stalking this thread lol. I’m a senior at a High School in Connecticut hoping to be accepted RD ( crosses fingers). I’m really stressed out I just want to know already

I wouldn’t be surprised if you guys find out mid-week this week, but it could also be later, so don’t count on that. I’m pretty sure people found out around the 25th last year.

Good luck everyone! I hope to see you all at Barnard next year!

From reading this thread, I have determined that WE ALL NEED TO GET INTO BARNARD! And, if some of us don’t get accepted it’s okay because we all will be at Barnard in some way. Bear with my cheese factor, lol. But some part of what makes Barnard great to us individually will be present wherever we end up because we as wonderfully bright and ambitious women bring it to the table. You love Barnard for its small class sizes and individual attention but you end up at a huge, impersonal university? Start a study group/tutoring program that prides itself on individual attention. Love the cultural opportunities that NYC provides? Make your own culture – become friends with international students and learn about their customs. Love all the strong women that populate Barnard? Find your own niche of strong women at your school and do superb things together. So…basically, I’m saying to an extent the amazingness of Barnard (or at least pieces of it) can be experienced wherever you guys end up. It’s all up to you to put the pieces you like together in order to make Barnard happen at a place that, well, isn’t Barnard.

Did that make any sense? Haha…waiting is making me think of these things.

mp, I’m sorry, but I don’t know when they’re mailing them. Calling them tomorrow would probably be your best bet.

cantochickk, I’m sorry. Here’s to hoping for Barnard  You’re still an amazing person.

squaregirl, have you completely lost hope for the ivys? The reason I know you’ve applied is because I’ve looked through your posts (btw, that wasn’t meant to sound creepy).

Dinerz824, yaaay. Another person! Thanks for joining the Anxiety Crew. I think we’ll all agree that we’re pretty much in the same boat.

Hi All!!

So I haven’t posted on this thread too much, but I’ve been reading it! I want you all to know that I have learned so much from your positive attitudes and how supportive you are… especially considering how stressful this is!!!

So… GOOD LUCK to everyone this week and no matter what happens, you girls are all awesome!!

aww. i feel so loved.lol =) I too have discerned we should ALL be accepted and have crazy fun together at the best college in the ENTIRE world.

I’m really curious to know about all of your stats (gpa and sat and stuff) but I feel like this should be posted after decisions. haha =X

<3

yea, me too! but my stats are horrible :frowning:
i just hope i get waitlisted at least-a straight rejection would kill me! :'(

Cantochick- I’m SO sorry about Macaulay Honors. If it helps, I know a girl who was absolutely brilliant and waitlisted, so you can’t really control how random this whole process is. You’re still an awesome and amazing person  If you wanted my stats (and I’m sure this would apply for a lot of posters), they’re not hard to find…but that will quantify the process while you wait which probably isn’t the best for your nerves <3

Welcome to the anxiety thread, Dinerz.

Etched–I think you’re the thread motivator. I know sometimes we all pop in with inspirational stuff, but you’re the one who ALWAYS offers comforting words, unique perspectives, and overall motivation. I know I’ve personally been uplifted by you so many times during this whole process. You’re awesome :)

@etched - Nah, but I’m realistic. I think I have a shot at Vassar, Barnard and Wesleyan, but other than that, the others are maaaaassive reaches for me.

LOL, my stats are awful. But I’ve shamelessly posted them anyways on places like the Harvard board, so I’m becoming more and more comfortable with them. We can’t all be 2400s with 4.9 GPAs and valedictorian rankings. ;)

Cantochick-- i am sorry about Macaulay too! Which one did you apply? Baruch? I applyed to Hunter and got in, which was a total surprise. Don’t worry about it, i think Barnard is much cooler than a cuny… (although it’s Macaulay, but it’s still a cuny) the only reason that i would go to Macaulay over Barnard is money. (i don’t think i can get a lot of money from Barnard, of course i have to be accepted first =) ) if money isn’t a problem for you, you should definitely go to Barnard! You still have hope! Also my stats are not high… there are still hope! I am keeping my fingers crossed! For all of us. ^_^

It’s sad that I have to wait until next wednesday or thursday or friday (april 1st to 3rd) to find out while you all find out before the end of this week!!

I wish we could all just find out together…all at once.

haha you guys are seriously humble and nice people. I know you guys have high stats. When I say high, I mean like 1300+/1600 on sat with like a 3.7+ gpa. and of course there are the wonderful recs and essays…

anyways, WZLYLOVER, if you got into hunter honors, you’ve gotta be smart. lol congrats by the way!

I’ll tell you that there’s no way I have a 1300+ on the SAT. And I’ll also tell you that, in spite of that, I’ve gotten in to some pretty selective schools. Remember: stats aren’t everything. They’re only a fraction. There’s hope for all of us :)

wow good for you!
