Hello everyone! I’m a student currently applying to Stevens. Since the decisions of RD applicants will be released soon, I would like to have a place for all of us to discuss about everything relevant to Stevens: the estimated time for our results, scholarships, 4+1 and other honors programs, campus, teachers, academic rigor… Hope to receive good news from friends here!
I tweeted the admissions page and they said decisions would be posted online on April 1st.
I have been a bit surprised that Stevens takes this long to inform applicants of decisions. Many schools also say “by April 1” but tell students much earlier. My daughter is already booked in early April for admitted student events at other schools. At this point the only way she would even consider Stevens is if they offered her big merit $.
Somewhere on CC (sorry don’t remember where) I found March 17 at 4:30pm EST decisions emailed for Stevens and added it to the calander on my phone. D LOVES Stevens. Fingers and toes crossed it’s affordable.
I’m confused–March 17 was last week?
Oh jeez, typed without brain engaged. I meant March 27th.
So they are sending admission decisions on Easter Sunday?
@ProudDad1357 Greeting and warm wishes for you and your daughter! I agree with you that Stevens really takes a long time to inform applicants, and its tuition and fees is quite problematic for most people. But I believe that Stevens offers one of the most prestigious co-op programs which can help graduates pursue high-paid jobs in engineering in New Jersey or New York. On another note, I would like ask you how you have contacted your counselor in Stevens, by phone or email? I’m an international student and I missed a chance for an interview, so some weeks ago I wrote an email to an international admission counselor here, asking for some clarification but I haven’t received a reply yet. It seems that Stevens rarely contacts students via email …
They always say by April 1st but RD decisions generally come out the last Friday in March from what I see in the past. If that still holds true then its tomorrow.
Really hoping it’s tomorrow. A lot of the colleges I applied to are releasing them around now so who knows!
The swim coach emailed me and said decisions would hopefully be out by Monday
@MangroveForests - Thank you for starting the blog and I agree that Stevens is a great school. Good luck this week! The good news is April 1st is only 5 days away.
I think we will be hearing early this week, maybe today
Before making your decision, I would advise people to review housing and meal plan rates. https://www.stevens.edu/campus-life/residence-life/room-board-rates Note that rates are per semester
Freshman year is not a problem, as all freshmen will be offered housing on campus, in a hall, although you may be placed in a triple.
In subsequent years, you will enter the housing lottery. Upperclassmen will have priority, as well as the ability to pull students into their existing housing. Sophomores tend to get the housing that is further from campus, such as Shipyard and Juliana. Washington St and River Terrace locations will be first to go as they have closer access to campus.
Many people move into non-Stevens housing because it is cheaper, but you may end up having to go to Weehawken and commute in. Just consider this before committing to Stevens. It is a nice campus but they are admitting more freshmen each year and housing is priced at a premium. It is expensive.
There are currently over 5,000 students. Looking to increase enrollment to 8,000 by 2022. This was in a local paper this past week.
Accepted but not enough financial aid at all.
Waitlisted to which I rejected.
I was just accepted, but I’m not an engineering major so that probably helped me. Is financial aid/scholarship information available as soon as your status is updated on the portal, or does that come later?
@confusedsenior02 There was a link to a separate financial aid letter on my portal
@MidnightAshe I found it, thank you!!
