RD chance for Duke, Cornell, Brown?

Can anyone chance my brother? He doesn’t have an account so I am posting on his behalf.

1510 SAT (790M, 720R, 16essay) - took only once
3.86 uGPA, 4.67 wGPA - rank top 10%
SAT2: 780 math, 720 biology
15 total AP classes taken (including senior year) - AP scholar with distinction
Varsity cross country and track all 4 years - competed in state championship for cc 3 times
Summer internship at NIH
Summer internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital
Co-founded community weekly running group for new runners

Background: public school, asian male, middle class family

His main concerns are 1. he doesn’t really have many extracurriculars, although the dedication he put into the ones he has is really strong; 2. his 16 on the SAT essay is pretty bad, i don’t know how much emphasis colleges put in the essay but I assume it’s school-specific; 3. do colleges care about AP scores? he received a lot of 3s and even a 2 on his AP tests, hence only AP w/distinction and not national AP scholar but he will not be releasing any AP scores.

Duke, Cornell, and Brown are reaches for all…but he has a good chance! His SAT and grades are fine (pretty average), but his internships with the NIH and Johns Hopkins Hospital are very good. Definitely don’t submit the AP scores.

Good luck!

He is competitive for all of these schools
