Recs:
Councelor: 10/10—My guidance counselor likes me a lot and I frequently visit her just to chat.
AP Physics Teacher 10/10—I was the only one who would participate in class. She would tell me that the class can’t function without me there
Math Teacher: 9/10—He writes a ton of recs, so idk if it’ll standout from others of his, but I had him for 3 years and he stopped me in the hallway once to tell me that I made coming in to teach a pleasure for him
English Teacher: 10/10—I was, again, the only one to participate. I would routinely do the best on essays. He told me he wrote a glowing rec for me

Essays:
8-9/10 for all—I think I did a great job at showing who I am accurately in all my essays, and I talked about what I’m genuinely passionate about.

Your stats are right about middle of the road for Duke and Rice. A tiny bit below average for Brown and Columbia. That being said, there’s a 12-15% chance of getting in with “average” stats. That being said, you did GREAT! All of those schools are “reach” schools no matter what your grades are. Make sure you secure a good scholarship school just in case. Good luck!

Your stats are above average for Duke and Rice contrary to what @coolguy40 said. SAT and GPA are above average (keep in mind OPs GPA scale).

‘chance me’ posts are a waste of time. Especially for highly selective schools like the ones on your list.

You are a competitive applicant. Your stats are great and your ECs are good. With amazing essays you could get accepted to any of these schools

@doorrealthe Thanks. I was accepted to Rice, so I have hope.

by any chance do u go to a school in long island?? i know that questions sounds odd @Metsfan7860

I’m from the city actually

Rice is pretty easy to get into, so you’ll be fine. Everything else, you will have to stand out!

@Metsfan7860 Did you get into Columbia, Brown or Duke?

@DeadPoolCollege No one from my school has gotten in the past few years, and we are a pretty competitive school. I wouldn’t say “easy”.

@nucleus101 Decisions didn’t release yet

Being Muslim should be a big boost, especially with such outstanding stats. I think you are going to have multiple acceptances. Congrats on Rice - it’s a great school - and good luck on the others!

@DeadPoolCollege Did you say Rice is easy to get into??? Really?

Anyway, OP, congratulations on Rice acceptance! I think it’s darn difficult to get admitted there. Good luck on the rest of the schools!!

@DeadPoolCollege I’m assuming you were joking but if you weren’t, everyone should take your advice with a grain of salt.

@SatchelSF I don’t know if being Muslim is boost, especially in such a charged political climate, but thanks. A few people advised me not to list any religious ECs, but I ignored them. I really hope so.

Rice is considerably easier to achieve acceptances to than the other 3 Universities you mentioned. And that’s coming from someone that was accepted to those Ivies and a few Elites.

That being said, most of my friends that had cross admits when I was in high school chose Elites (top 10) or other Ivies over Rice.

Rice, Georgetown, USC (Southern Cali), Northwestern and similar schools were backups/2nd choices.

Congratulations on your acceptance to Rice. Good Luck on Ivy Day and with Duke. Rice’s admit rate fell to 11 percent this year so it is not an easy admit at all. There is an active Muslim Student Association at Rice. http://msa.rice.edu/about-the-rice-msa/

Rice has a tremendous, diverse student body and ranks high on the list every year for Happiest students. http://news.rice.edu/2016/08/29/rice-ranked-no-1-for-happiest-students-and-lots-of-raceclass-interaction/

I hope you will attend Owl Days to discover what makes Rice special.

I’m very impressed by Rice. And I have two degrees from HYP. If I were a high school senior today, and had the option to attend, I would very seriously consider Rice over the other schools mentioned (Duke, Columbia, Brown). Especially if my interests were in STEM and/or pre-med. Just my opinion.

@Houston1021 I wont be able to come for Owl Days, but I’ll be visiting within the next week
