Hiya Everyone,
Last year I was waitlisted at Hotchkiss after applying to be a ninth grader. I still have a very large interest in the school, and was hoping to re-apply this year. Do you think the fact that I was previously waitlisted a help or hindering this time around? Or is last year's attempt completely irrelevant at this point?

Hotchkiss will think that A. You are obviously persistant B. You obviously love the school if you are willing to go through this process again and C. You must be very smart/talented to even get waitlisted! While this will certainly not secure your admission, it will help, and it is by no means irrelevant. Good luck!

If Hotchkiss is the one, this is perhaps a time to call/email the person you had the most contact with there last year and ask an open ended question of “how can I make my application stronger”. Listen very carefully to the reply. Generally speaking the school wants to help a student, they should be sympathetic and honest in their advice.

@mhmm, do you think that should be done if you were waitlisted and reapplying no matter what the school?

I dont think the school matters.
