First of all, thank you for reading this. THIS IS LONG, I know. but please help me by some input, and I will millionly thank you you.

So here is the problem I am facing.
I am a good student, but somehow I did bad this semesters. The courses that I did bad on were not that difficult. In fact, one of the courses was calc-based physics I.
This is simple. I have taken high school physics, and half-semester of AP Physics. It's plain mechanics, so I thought I would do fine.

I dont think i am stupid, just not enough sleep or something (apparently I did all my calculation wrongs either on the calculator or the formula without the right signs or something...)

I am a freshman right now, moving to 2nd year next fall.
I was accepted to Columbia Engineering but turned it down since it was too expesnive.

I want to transfer to another college since my entrance of my current college. My targets are MIT, Cornell, UPen and safe school with Stony Brook.

I know even if I go to SB, my GPA get erased, and only credits get transferred.

But I am a computer engineering, and physics major. I want do be a student that learns the material, and can have strong background in the future courses.

So I want to retake my physic class over the summer, which will cost me $800. That's a lot. I know.

What screw me up really is the idea of transferring. I can explain why I did bad, and if I do extremely well in the Fall, I can still have a shot to get into those colleges (assuming I am the right candidate they are looking for), because I can explain how I learned my mistake.

Of course, the "candidate" should be unique, right? PLAIN 4.0 GPA doesnt get you anywhere these days.

Now, my concern is:

1] is it totally worth to retake the class over the summer? I do plan on finish this semester with a good grade; I wouldnt just fail my final exam and get F. I will try my best, and get at least B-. (I am thinking that I am getting something like C, I can't really tell.... he's curving but i am really worried).

2] it's $800, and I dont get to see my grade way after the last day to refund my money for summer course.... (let say I did get B... thats fine with me...)

Oh god... I dont know. On one hand my gut tells me its worthelss because you don't really need those concepts very much in higher study of physics (they dont deal with classical mecahnics that much anymore, but the relation of F = ma, r
oh the other hand, however, it seems like its a good idea. but still.... $800!!!!!
