[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I really don’t know
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/ul] General Comments: I can’t believe aznnerd2014 got accepted. I can’t believe this. Stuff like this really makes me lost faith in institutions like Stanford. This kid is not qualified at all, he deserves to go to some state university or a community college.

@batista
Hey, hopefully you have a chance at other great universities. I was rejected as well, but honestly I think that aznnerd2014 is just trolling; I kind of had a feeling, and I knew for sure when he got to senior year courses.

I still received no e-mail. No acceptance, no rejection, no deferral, nothing!
I checked my spam folder, trash folder, nothing!
In early e-mails, Stanford clearly indicated I am applying early action!
Anyone is having this problem? I’m desperate, please help!

The same thing happened to me…still no email. At this point I’m fully expecting rejection, but I’d like to just know for sure so I can fully move on. Doesn’t help that somehow my mom found out that the decisions came out yesterday and literally barged into my room while I was completely asleep and went onto my computer to check my email herself (no regard for the fact that I haven’t slept all week). Figure this would all happen to me. Any chance that I’ll get the email before Monday? I really don’t want to have to go through another full day of school waiting, because there’s no way I’m going to call and get the rejection while I’m at school.

Regardless, a huge congratulations to all those that got accepted! Based on what you guys have posted on this thread, each one of you truly deserves it.

@batista I wasn’t surprised at your rejection (I think maybe stronger EC’s?) until I got to the bottom… You’re a HISPANIC LEGACY?! Who DOES get into this school??? Well I know it made me feel better about my rejection…

I completely agree. Stanford says they are looking for people that are different, people who stand out. How many people have had an internship with the FBI? Taught kids in India?

I looked at the statistics of this year… about 750 of 7000 accepted from 36 different countries, and only 75% had a 4.0. So what is it that they are actually looking for? Because it looks to me that they are trying to diversify their student body and not look at academics and extracurriculars. This honestly makes me mad because people like you and me actually have incredible stories to tell and hoped that Stanford would see that also, but instead they choose people that don’t even qualify.

Honestly, Stanford has disappointed me this year. This doesn’t seem right.

@aznnerd2014 Congrats on being accepted. However, I think you should be more careful with your words when you say “if you just try hard it’s easy to get into college” because all of us tried hard. In fact a large majority of the rejected applicants have stats that are much more impressive than yours. It’s never easy to get into Stanford.

Nothing against you as you obviously worked very hard as well, but please choose your words more carefully next time. Again, congratulations.

For everyone out there who was rejected, I understand your disappointment, but please don’t belittle the accomplishments of those who were accepted. There could be circumstances at play beyond the stats and everyone who got in deserves to get in. You may have better stats, but there is more at play here than just stats. They may have written amazing essays or had fantastic recommendations, and the process really is a crapshoot. To be completely honest, I wouldn’t want to go to college with someone who disparages those who were accepted, and I don’t think Stanford would want to admit someone like that either.

Completely agree with Sophus. Batista11, please keep in mind that most people haven’t experienced all the advantages you have. Legacy, ultra-elite boarding school, connections from dad, etc… You have been given some amazing gifts. Use them wisely.

@sophus I’m definitely not trying to belittle @aznnerd’s accomplishments. He/she obviously had what it takes to be selected to the one of the best universities in the world! That’s something to be proud of. I respect you, @aznnerd and anyone else who was accepted/even applied.
