My understanding is that the interview for an REA applicant is scheduled after he/she submits the application. Are these scheduled on a rolling basis, or are they all scheduled after the Nov. 1 deadline?
I believe alumni interviews are scheduled after November 1st. The reason: While many student’s submit their application prior to the deadline, a student’s application is considered incomplete until Admissions receives your transcript and Secondary School Report (SSR) from your guidance counselor. High school’s tend to not send those items out to college’s until the final two weeks of October, so generally interviews are not scheduled until those items (and your teacher recommendations) have been received.
No, it occurs on a rolling basis. Due to the extremely compressed window, Yale turns around contact info for REA applicants to area alumni interview groups (called Alumni Schools Committees) very quickly for assignment to volunteers. So October interview call outs do occur.
Ok, I stand corrected.
@T26E4 - So even if the application is submitted early, the earliest interview date is after the Nov. 1 deadline?
No – the opposite. An early app submission may likely get you an interview before Nov 1st.
Whoops, misread your post and thought you wrote that October call outs didn’t occur. Thanks!
I do interviews. Our Alumni Schools Committee Chair has already sent out the call for interviewers to sign up again this year - and for new people to consider. I anticipate starting to get interview referrals soon from our Chair, especially for those that apply SCEA. I love this time of year.
