Thanks so much for the help, it is much appreciated!

I don’t think Stanford is realistic for you with a 31 on the ACT, but I’d say retake it and try and get in the 33-34 range and you have a chance at any of the others. I don’t see Stanford happening though.

Like others have said, get the ACT to 33+. Do you have any SAT Subjects?

Can you be recruited for basketball? If so, your chances go way up.

With your scores as is and without recruitment, your chances aren’t very high at Stanford. USC, UCLA, and UC Berkeley are still low reaches since they look at your numbers first, but you should be able to get into at least one of them.

Your extracurriculars and GPA seem solid, however your ACT score and AP’s might be troublesome in the long run. Since Stanford has the lowest admission rate in the country at only 5%, you probably won’t make it into Stanford. My guess is that you should make it into either USC or UCLA.

Thank you for the perspective-- Stanford seems next to impossible, but I have heard that USC, UCLA, and Berkeley all look at applications pretty holistically-- would you guys agree with that? I think I’ve given up on ACT, as I already took it 6 times, so I don’t think it will go any higher.

Have you tried the SAT?

Stanford requires that you send in all six test scores so that alone I think you work against you.

I did poorly on the PSAT, so I opted out of taking the SAT-- unfortunately test taking isn’t my strong suit lol…
