What are the dimensions of a drawer in a residence hall triple? I'm thinking about getting drawer organizers.

Just order it when you get there chicken. It'll make your life easier (esp. if you know where the organizers are from).

Anyone know what kind of furnishing is provided in the Landfair apartments? And also if you don't have parking, where are you supposed to park, or where's the best place to park, to unload all your stuff?

if its university owned, then its furnished. if its private, then i have no idea.

What does STC stand for? I have to register a wireless router there?

Student Technology Center.

What hibiscuspink said. During welcome week, you'll just have to register at the Sunset Quad to receive the wireless router (if it's same procedure as last year). Or you can get a splitter, but I don't know if they do that during Welcome Week.

Yeah, they will register your private router, or their own router (for those in triples) at the same kiosk.

Do I need to bring any specific tools in order to manually raise my bed to a higher level?

Bed adjustment requests must be made in the first two weeks of each quarter and a $35 fee will be assessed per request... No other person or entity may install or construct lofts or bunk beds in a room. **[...][/b]

don't know anyone that has ever done it though

when is the housing for nxt yr 1st come 1st serve? do most ppl have the same time frame to apply? do the ppl who have a single this year have an advantage to get a single nxt yr again?

room sign-up occurs over four days in march.
in february, those eligible to return to ucla housing will receive a specific time (similar to your enrollment appointment time) when you can sign up for a room. your time is usually related to your seniority and other factors i'm not too clear on.

the name "room sign-up" is quite literal: when your time comes, you pick the actual room that you want. ie, rieber vista 215A, or de neve birch 409. if you're signing up only yourself, it's that simple. if you're signing up with friends, the one with the earliest time can sign up the entire room (this includes A and B rooms for suites).

the earlier your time, the more options you have. i had a good time and was able to get a single in summit. if you want a single, that's the most likely place you'll get it because it has more singles than rieber vista and terrace combined.

Can anyone give me some advice on house share?

I want to rent in Santa Monica or West Hollywood and I've been told they're expensive places to live. I'm from the UK, so the exchange rate is at my advantage right now. As long as the prices aren't completely unreasonable, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to manage. I'm thinking anything under a grand is manageable for me.

so if i pick a room that i know is a triple arrangement right now, but i want to live in a double, will that room be converted to a double?
should i pick a room that has a double arrangement now?

The occupancy arrangement shouldn't change, and the gendered rooms seldom change.

You can check all this on the housing website about a few weeks (or earlier) before the housing appointments.

So to answer your question, you should choose a double room.

How is the food, and will it take some time for the stomach to get use to.

its pretty good compared to other schools' food, but you'll get bored of it quickly.

it's the best food in the country, but, it's dorm food. as in, there's tons of variety at first, but then you realize it's all the same ingredients prepared in different ways... that said, the food is freshly made.

if you're concerned about your stomach just don't overdo it. avoid eating nachos AND a soda and then going for ice cream ;)

Somehow, I discovered that I have lactose intolerance at UCLA and not at home. My stomach will not sit with Rockfield milk but Costco milk at home will sit.

What's up with that??

rockfield? is that what they put in the dorms?

have you tried lactaid, or whatever those pill thingies are that are supposed to help lactose intolerant people? also, try drinking the alta dena milk that they sell at hilltop. if that sits, at least you won't have to go off campus for your milk.

one last thought, what % milk do you drink at home, and here? no idea if that's causing this, but anything's worth a shot.
