So, its my first semester of freshman year. To keep a long story short, I've ended up with a 4.1 weighted gpa. Sorry if I sound conceited and stuck up or anything , and I know that stuff at my home has been really stressful, but if I do really well for the rest of high school, do you think colleges could possibly overlook the gpa of first semester? Btw I really liked the Neurobiology program at Harvard, but I've felt kinda discouraged after seeing my gpa. Any help?

how do you have a 4.1 weighted GPA freshman year? I thought they didn’t weigh freshman year first semester…
So how many weighted classes are you taking? BTW, at my school, we were not allowed to take weighted classes outside of math. Besides, it’s not all grades. There’s a bit of randomness to Harvard admissions, too. So really, you shouldn’t be worried at all.

Pocahontas I can’t gif.

I wasn’t expecting much from a thread titled “Read me please”.

I’m still disappointed.

I blame myself.

Hey, I’m a freshman with a 3.8 and you don’t see me complaining. Why? Because a 3.8 is pretty damn good and I’m proud of myself. Get a life and stop worrying so much about college right now. You still have 3.5 years of high school to enjoy.

Sorry, but things might be worse than you think. Weighted doesn’t matter.

How is your real GPA?

But really, if your soph/junior/senior year grades are awesome, freshman year gets really easy to overlook.

What’s your class rank and school competitiveness? I’ve attended two schools with varying difficulty and competitiveness, and a 4.1 at one is completely different than a 4.1 at the other. In my last school, a rigorous private international, a 4.1 would likely make you valedictorian, and a kid with a GPA around that got into MIT as an international. While a 4.1 at my current public high school will not even put you in the top 10% of the class. A 4.1 would also put you in the bottom 25% at a local public U where the average ACT score is 26. So without more data, it’s impossible to know where you fall in relation to other Harvard applicants.

Bro chill out you’re just a freshman, enjoy high school

stop please

“how do you have a 4.1 weighted GPA freshman year? I thought they didn’t weigh freshman year first semester…”

Wha? This weighted GPA system is so complicated.

“How is your real GPA?”

Yeah, that would help.

“Bro chill out you’re just a freshman, enjoy high school”

That’s what middle school is for.

@halcyon:
I disagree, middle school grades are extremely important as if you get low middle school grades, you would not be able to get in a good prep school, or even be placed at your school system’s advanced math track!

I should only get my hopes of for such a title if the author says ICEQube

“I disagree, middle school grades are extremely important as if you get low middle school grades, you would not be able to get in a good prep school, or even be placed at your school system’s advanced math track!”

Most people don’t go to prep school, and you can double up on math.
I mean, middle school is preparation for high school and people shouldn’t slack off, but in general it doesn’t matter as much if you get a couple B’s. People sometimes act like it’s too early for a freshman to be worried about their GPA and college. It’s not. They’re in high school. The stuff they do as a freshman will count.

Apologies, my post was satirical. But I see what you mean. Though, some schools such as Stanford do not count freshman GPA, and most take a deeper look at one’s junior year.
