So I've started working on my essays for the common app. Actually, I wrote two different ones for the common app, because I'm not entirely sure the direction I want to go in. I feel like I have a lot of good stories, but it's difficult to find something that translates well on paper. The two I wrote are from the "failure" prompt, but they are very, very different. I feel like one is more run of the mill (not getting into the school play), but the other one is a little bit edgy and I'm worried it makes me look like I have a hero complex. Anyway, I was hoping if people would be willing to read BOTH of the essays, and tell me A.) which one is better, B. ) if they are solid enough for Ivies and other highly selective colleges, and C.) what I can do to improve them. Please post and I'll PM them to you. Thanks. :)

Go ahead and PM me.

I would love to read them! I’m going to do the same thing: write a bunch and then go through them with a teacher and some well-qualified peers to select the best one.

I would also be happy to help! :)

I’ll read it

Sure! I’m in the same boat, applying for admission in the fall. I am about to write mine… would you also read it after I’m done?
