don't worry, if you don't like Asimov then that's your personal preference. Don't let your friends bully you about your taste!

On the other hand, if you sincerely want to learn to enjoy his books, then maybe you could start by telling me which ones you've read. If you started with stuff like the Robots of Dawn or the Galactic Novels, then I can kind of understand why you arent enjoying it.

I would tell a beginner to start with Foundation...it's very gripping and makes you want to read the sequels. Among the sequels I'd say Second Foundation is very good, in fact as good as Foundation itself. And Prelude to Foundation is just fantastic but then thats a prequel :p

So assuming you've managed to plough through the entire Foundation series and enjoyed it, that should be incentive enough to read the robot novels which arent fantastically well written but have excellent storylines and help you fit in missing pieces into the Foundation books.

Alternatively, you could try Asimov's books like The End of Eternity or The Gods Themselves, both of which are really really good. Some of his short stories are just fantastic too- Nightfall and The Ugly Little Boy are two that come to mind immediately.

The good thing about Asimov is the fact that several people who don't really like SF enjoy his books. I personally used to be an SF freak and I have a soft spot for Asimov because I started out by reading his books. :)

But there's obviously no rule saying that you have to like him. My mom for example doesnt like Asimov even though she enjoys Arthur C Clarke
