Real housing info for anyone who took the tour

Let me start by saying that I have never actually lived in an IU dorm. I'm class of 2016 (so I haven't started freshman year yet), so take this advice with a grain of salt.
Over the summer, my mom and I went up to IU for their generic prospective student tour. We also went on the second part of the tour, which was all about RPS. As part of that, our RPS guide showed us a mock-up of a dorm that she said was about the same size as the real ones. It was about the size of a shoebox.
But we went back another weekend to see some things on campus that we hadn't seen as part of the tour. While there, we actually got to look around some actual dorm rooms in the Central Neighborhood. What did I learn? Why am I telling you this? Well, I learned that the RPS mock-up is not very accurate. It was a couple of feet smaller than the smallest dorm we saw (Sizes vary by buildinng) and had the furnishings of the biggest. That is, the small dorms have better storage than shown and the big dorms have enough room for you to provide your own storage.
I've already applied for housing, but wanted to share this info in case anyone else was worried after the RPS tour.

Don’t expect all the rooms to be the same even on the same floor. When I lived in Wright this summer, the type of closet in each room varied. In Mcnutt, some rooms have odd corners that give you about 6 inches less space than other rooms. It’s an important 6 inches because it prevents you from being able to but the bed against the wall. I guess the lesson is don’t expect anything until you actually see your room.
