Realistic chances for scoring well on Literature

I've been forced to make a last minute change in my choice of subject tests and have decided to go with Literature. But I am quite intimidated and do have my doubts on how well I can perform.

Is it really that hard? In the ~3 months I have left, I plan on doing a considerable amount of prep. I plan on reading quite a few books, looking through some good examples of poetry, and going through the top choice prep book.(btw which book should I get? Barrons? PR?)

However, I doubt myself because, for one thing, I've never(except for next year) taken an honors or AP course in English. Also, even though I'm pretty proud of my CR score(690), I do realize that there are people on here that have scored 750+ on CR but end up getting low 600's or even 500's on the Lit test.

So as my situation stands, can I even expect a decent score? Honestly, I'll be EXTREMELY happy with anything 650 or above.

So guys....any suggestions, tips, comments, etc will be highly appreciated.

ok so i saw ur other thread and like...out of all the subjects what made u decide to take literature..especially if u aiming for a 650+ then like i d say take a science or something...lit isnt really the way to go ..cause its like..ur either good at it ..or ur not...u cant really study that much for it....take like a science or something i am sure like something out of the sciences (Bio/Chem/Physics) ..i would reccomed bio (cause tis the only thing i ve taken) and Barrons book.u can easily get an 800 if u have an idea of what ur doing and just study the WHOLE book...especialy if u have 2 months...i mean i prepped in 2 weeks from that book and got a 790 (even thought my first practice test was a 660 or something) and it wasnt even intensive prepping... i just read the book and solved the quizzes/tests (got an 800 on the last one) ...very simple....ur probably gonna say its cause i probably took a course(which i did)...but i ll say that u have a WHOLE 2 months to prep and do even intesive prepping..i only had 2 weeks of non-intensive prepping (not to mention that ii had other school work back then.)

Do you think the sciences, bio in this case, are easy to do well(650+) in even if I have a relatively small background in the subject? Bio is the most recent science I took in school, but it was a regular level course. So, granted I go through the Barrons prep book, do you think I can still do well even with my limited exposure to bio?

btw, I noticed in another thread you mentioned that you took AP Bio before taking the SATii. So is it safe to assume that taking a class of that level(AP/hns) is the only way to actually do well in the SATii? I mean obviously I'm not aiming for that high of a scaore, but can I still do well if I learn pretty much everything from the prep book alone?

yea lit isn't a good one to take. it's difficult to prep for.
take a science (physics has a GREAT curve, chem is pretty easy, someone with a 5 on AP Bio told me the bio sat 2 was really hard.)
take a math (usually it's required)

i don't recommend taking bio. take physics or chem. chem is a good choice--make sure to prep and you'll be fine.

but tbh, I don't think I've retained any of the info I learned in those subjects( I took them my frosh and soph years). So is it still safe to risk taking those tests if I have such limited knowledge in the subjects? Again, I'd be willing to do a considerable amount of prep, but I'm afraid it really won't help me much.

dude, SAT2s are very easy and preppable. just study and you'll be fine. i don't understand why you're stressing so much about not having enough time. the curves on SAT2s are nice. study it up, and you'll be a-ok. don't go for subjects you can't prep for, such as lit or a foreign language (both need years of prep for mastery)

i am telling u go with bio.... u even said u have a 'slight' idea of the subject...besides me taking AP..This will make you feel better:..i studied the WHOLE thing in 2 MONTHS ...and by that i mean the whole COURSE ..i never studied ANYTHNIG in Bio at the beginning of the year..(heck i dont think i even knew what DNA was) ...i was like "bio-retarded" i didnt know nothing..and an average REgulars student would EASILY do better then me on ANYTHNIG back then and i was abt to get kicked into regulars once....but then i studied the last two months i figured (for certiain reasons) that i MUST do good on the AP test...so i studied like crazy and i mean everything..the whole Ap course from Top to bottom reading the whole (or almost the whole) textbook from beginning to end with like 2-prep books..all in 2 ,months and i ended up with on of the highest avgs , a 5 and a 790

now look at u ... u have 2 months to study for ONLY the SATII ..i studied a whole AP COURSE in 2 months (And trust me i barely knew anything, even thought my teacher was mad good, i was just a lazy bum) and the AP course is MUCH more inclusive then the SAT II test...(Even thought the SAT II is kind of harder) ... so u can easily do well.and by i well i mean 750+ kind of well..not just 650+.....so yea i think u should definetly give it a shot..

Literature isn't that bad if you're good at analyzing. At first I thought it was scary too, but I got 650+ on two practice tests before prep...I think if your regular courses were strong you can get a good score with some prep. In honors this year we did a lot of poetry analysis so I think that helped. Now to tackle biology...
