Realistically, how much can I improve my act score by?

On december 11th, I took the act, and I got a 24 composite, 23 English, 30 math, 21 reading, and 23 science. I am a sophomore, and this was my first time taking it with no formal training whatsoever. Staring this spring, I am going to take private tutoring to help me improve my score. I am a very good student with a 4.0 in high school. My goal is to get into penn, so I need to improve my score by at least 7 points. I am willing and able to take the tests as many times as I need to. I also will study unbelievably hard and practice and inconceivable amount.

How much can I realistically improve my score?

well if you study hard i’m sure you can get a couple points. especially if you get a good test-taking strategy. But you should realize that you’re trying to jump from around the 74th percentile to the 97th percentile. That’s a pretty smart 23% of the population…

Learn how to read and process your thoughts faster. Judging by your 21 on reading, you must take longer than you should on answering the questions. Take practice tests under strict time limits and see what happens.

You could also try the SAT.

Realistically your possibilities for improvement are endless. I improved my score by 4 the the second time I took the test, and thats after just studying for a day. I mean your only a sophomore, really anything is possible.

Get familiar enough with the test, practice, and practice some more, and you could go up by 12 points.

It’s definitely possible to improve by seven points.
