<p>My family and I drove to NEU yesterday to take some tours and talk to admissions, and I got some very bad news. I will most likely be declined from transferring into NEU's Architecture program, not because of my grades, but because I do not have all the required pre-requisite courses. One admissions adviser was very positive, she said that every year is different and no case is ever handled the same, but lets be honest here. I feel pretty stupid because the courses were listed on the Architecture transfer page in their website, staring me right in the face. I currently go to SUNY Delhi for Architecture and I will be getting my Associates in Applied Sciences this May. The Architecture program there is garbage, the professors are horrible and the studios where we are supposed to be completing all our work are easily out done by any 5th grade art classroom. None of my design courses from Delhi will transfer over to NEU, but that is not even half the problem. The courses I am missing to be considered for admission are Physics II, Calculus II, English II, and a Natural Science course. Why have I not taken any of these at Delhi already? Because that stupid school bunches all of their Architecture and Construction students into one joint program during the first 2 years, so while I could have been taking courses that actually help an architect, I was learning how to mix concrete and how to sweat copper. While not completely useless activities, I would have been much better off at another school, something I failed to realize as a freshman. So I can't get in, what do I do?</p>
<p>my best option is to take these missing courses at nearby Dutchess Community College, but that means a year of taking only 4-5 courses that aren't even guaranteed to transfer. I have to wait a year because even if I knock out all these courses in the fall. NEU won't accept spring architecture transfers. Should I really devote a year, basically taking a break from all design work and focus on taking credits for only 1 school? I would definitely do this If I can be guaranteed a spot at NEU, but nothing about transferring schools is definite. Yeah, I am being real negative right now, but if I do this and still don't get in. Then that's 3 years of school that wont get me to where I need to be. Then there's having to pay for it all, If I get in for fall 2010 and realize NEU wont give me enough aide, as I've been reading is a common problem, I am definitely screwed over. I'm in a real tough spot here people, any advice means a lot to me. Thanks</p>
