Really need some transfer suggestions.

I currently go to a small(<4,000 students) private Christian school in Florida. I don't like the dynamic here(meaning the rules, people, lack of school spirit, etc). The kids here also have no interest in their education. The school is a diploma mill(minus the Pharmacy and Med programs, they are respected).

I live in Maryland, so any school closer than Florida would be great. I want something with more than the current amount of students at my current school. Doesn't necessarily have to be huge. Social life should be decent, the social life here is expensive and redundant(despite being a 10 minute walk to the beach).

I have nothing against drinking, and enjoy it in moderation. Like going to parties, would definitely like to have the option(unlike here where you get suspended for drinking)

My SAT score was only a 1740, my high school GPA was a 3.6
First semester GPA was a 3.2(Professor failed me on a midterm and then "threw" it away and refused to prove to me that I actually failed - I finished in 10 minutes, no way I failed it).

I've already applied to University of Richmond(1st choice, but doubt I'll get in)
and Mount St. Mary's University(I know its small, but its 30 minutes from my home and I already know a few people that go there - its my safe school, already been accepted).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Anything is appreciated.

West Virginia University
University of Delaware

Is financial aid an issue? Transfers don’t receive much in the way of financial aid.
I realize I just mentioned two OOS schools. Do you want to stay in Maryland?

Doesn’t necessarily have to be in MD. My mother work benefit takes half of the cost regardless, so that is something I can keep in mind. Still don’t want anything too expensive(although my first choice is a very expensive school).

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into them. Was there any particular reason you mentioned them?

Anyone else have any more suggestions? WVU and UD don’t have great reviews…seem like party schools with not-so-great academic reputations. I realize my scores aren’t the highest, but surely there is some school out there that would be a good fit for me?

Bump, still need more suggestions!

Major? Public? Private? Urban, Rural, Suburban?

You want over 4,000 students?

If Greek Life dominates the social scene is that a problem or don’t you care?

National University, LAC, Regional University?

Is it important to see your school’s football & basketball teams on television, as in Division I athletics?

I went to Mount St. Mary’s back in the late '80’s. It’s a nice little college – are you Catholic? Lotta kids from Long Island and New Jersey, which took some getting used to for a laid back Marylander. Also can be somewhat cliquey like high school, so once you’re pegged in a certain group it’s hard to reinvent yourself. My son goes to WVU and he and I are both in love with Morgantown. He’s not a big partier and has made many like minded friends. The academics are great - I think it gets a bad rap because of it’s high acceptance rate, but so far I have been very impressed with my son’s classes.

I was going to edit my first post, but it wouldn’t let me.

Private or Public - doesn’t matter.
Major is International Business, might change to Marketing.
Not really into the Greek scene.
Doesn’t necessarily have to be Division I, but I appreciate the school spirit that comes with a decent sports team.

If you’re not liking schools like UDel, then I don’t know what to recommend. Your stats aren’t high enough for the schools you seem to want that also have “spirit.”

You could try Seton Hall, Loyola Maryland, SLU, UDayton…

VT has spirit, I was accepted there. I just didn’t go last year, probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

I’ve been suggested some good schools via mail, so thank you for those that contributed.
