So i gave my teachers the Common App Teacher Evaluation the first day of school and they were all mailed to the schools long ago... However, I didn't put my Common App ID on it... And when I go to the school forms tab all of my schools still have that "red triangle" next to it indicating that it hasn't been completed? Does this mean they haven't gotten my recommendations yet or is it supposed to be red because the teachers didn't submit them online? They DEFINITELY should have gotten them by now. I'm scared. Please help. Of course I'm doing my Early Action App for UMich the day it is due...

YOU COMPLETELY MESSED UP.

No I think you’re okay. Did you assign teachers and a guidance counselor to each college? The common app has nothing to do with colleges physically receiving the offline applications so that’s not the issue. Even if they’re not submitting them online you still need to type in their names and attach to each college.

Recommendations don’t have to be in by the day your application is due. Even so, I imagine your school has received them–your Common App wouldn’t reflect receipt of a paper rec.

Call the schools in a few weeks to make sure they have everything.

Oh thank God… Is it a problem if the colleges get my recommendations before anything else? I mean, they’ll “open up a file” for me, right? I sure hope so, it would suck to have to ask my teachers again.

In response to a comment above, some colleges DO say recommendations must be in to them by the application due date. However, I’m guessing they still give a few days grace period.

Yes, it appears that paper copies sent into the college don’t show up on the common app site.
