I screwed up majorly in my english class 4th quarter, and it's possible I could end up with a D. The rest of my grades are As, and I think my English grade would average out to a C/C+ for the year and second semester if I do get a D. How likely is it that my admission would be revoked because of this? I've heard that they send threatening letters to many students, but I don't know about rescinding admission. I'm really nervous right now, any responses would be appreciated!

I really, truly think you will be fine. Relax and enjoy the end of your senior year! : ) Revocations are when you fail or pull D’s in multiple classes because you quit working. A C or C+ for the year is not going to make UVA revoke your offer.

Thanks so much for the response.
I did the math, and in all likelihood I’m going to get a B for the year (dear god I hope so!). Not that I’m not still nervous about this, but I guess I should be more concerned with my parents reaction to my report card…

If your grades were high enough to get you in to UVA, I hope your parents cut you some slack here! You sound like my D. We never have to say anything to her about grades and school because she puts so much pressure on herself. Enjoy graduation- and enjoy UVA. The years will pass quickly, make sure to pause sometimes to savor them. : )

I don’t know about UVa, but many colleges will ask an accepted student for an explanation for a drop in grades. As noted above, colleges are primarily concerned about students who become party animals, vs. just one bad grade in one class in one semester.
