Hi I'm going to the university of Nevada - Reno this august & this is the schedule I was assigned:

MoWeFr
MUS 121- 11:00AM - 11:50AM
ENG 102- 12:00PM - 12:50PM
MATH 126- 1:00PM - 2:15PM

MoWe
PSY 101- 4:00PM - 5:15PM

TuTh
CAS 154- 9:30AM - 10:45AM

I feel like 4 classes esp math and eng in the same day almost back to back would be way too much. I was thinking of moving my PSY 101 class to TuTh but the only available class is at 8am. Would that be a good idea (bc I heard 8am classes are pretty hard to deal with)?

If anyone can help me rearrange my schedule a better way that would be great!

I’m not so concerned about the back to back classes as the lack of lunch. If you like getting up early, morning classes may be smaller. My college didn’t have classes before 9am, but I never minded being in them.

If you are a morning person then morning class might be when your brain is most alert.
When I was a freshman I had a math class at 1pm and I could barely stay awake (post-lunch slump) - my brain wanted to siesta.

I think I would be able to wake up and concentrate at 8am since I used to wake up at 5-6am during HS, but I heard that getting up in college is much more difficult. As for the back to back classes I’m not that concerned about lunch bc I can always eat a heavier breakfast then bring a snack into class. My main concern is will this be a problem when it comes to finals? I’m not really sure if freshmen classes are so hard that I wouldn’t be able to study for all of my finals in time…

Do you guys think it would be better if I tried moving eng to TuTh instead?

Being used to getting up early and wanting to are two different things. Having back to back classes can be better than the large gap between them. ONLY sign up for that early class if you currently prefer to get up by 7 am when you have nothing pending by 9 am.

Also- you can eat breakfast by 10:30 am then have lunch at 2:30 pm. I’ll assume your U has available food with your meal plan to accommodate variable choices by students. You have over 1 1/2 hours before psych.

Your finals schedule should be available, they are usually based on when courses meet. Some schools will have options available for the rare time a student has 3 in 24 hours. Do NOT assume that a class open to freshmen will be any easier than other classes. Expect to study a lot more than you think you will need to for your classes.

I’m surprised you didn’t choose your schedule. But it sounds fine. Be sure to consider the professor you will have when deciding classes.
