Rec Question

For our Recs, does there HAVE to be one from " math/science" teacher and one from " English/social studies" teacher? because I got rec from my english teacher and history teacher:(, i just realized that they required otherwise. am I in trouble?

i would call them and see...they were pretty specific in labelling one english/social studies and the other math/science. but if you're a person who is heavily involved in english/humanities type stuff and that's where most of your academic interests lie, maybe they'll let it slide.

honestly though, call them. or write your admissions rep. that's the only way you'll find out chicago's reaction. g'luck!

You might be in trouble, because they did state it multiple times on the application and even on the individual reccomendation sheet, but then again U of C is weird. Call them up (or email your adcom rep); if they don't mind, don't worry. If they do, offer if you can send a math/science teacher reccomendation as soon as possible, then get a math/science to do that. They're still organizing everything, so it shouldn't affect your chances. From my impression, U of C is very understanding.

They said on the website that if you want a rec from a different teacher or 2 humanities, you could send an additional one but you still have to have a math/science. So you should probably try to find a math/science teacher ASAP. Chicago is very understanding, so don't worry about it too much.

I was in the same situation. I don't think they'll mind if you send it in late, as long as it doesn't arrive too late (say, mid-february). Just make sure you DO send a math/science rec. (and priority mail shows that you care :)), because it is required. No flexibility on that issue, trust me: I tried to bend the rules a bit myself.

ahh thanks for the advice . A new problem came up. when checking my status they got my trancript which was sent with my recs. but they said they havent gotten my recs yet. i didnt attach the chicago sheet to them when my counselor sent them off. im confused now, am i supposed to get that reccomendation sheet and staple it to my recs?
